Treasure Hunt
Give the kids clues to hidden treasure. (Items that you have hidden) You could read the clues to them or if the children are old enough they can read them for themselves. Hide little items in the house or the backyard that are related to things that pirates would have. Ideas for items would be things like gold coins ( chocolate wrapped coins) little stuffed parrotts, costume jewellery, pirate badges, pirates stickers. Have a little prize for the winning team or child who finds the most treasure.
Pirate Coin Toss
In a designated are set up 5 different size jars with different sized mouth openings in an arrangement. (Be sure the openings are big enough to toss pennies inside of) Have the kids stand at a line that you have marked on the floor about 3- 4 feet away from the jars with a piece of masking tape. Each child is then given approx. 5 pennies each and one at a time they take turns tossing them into the jars. Have a little prize for the one who gets them all in or the one who gets the most in. (Idea for the prize might be some gold chocolate coins!

- Many moons ago, my sons went to the coolest pirate themed party ...this mom was the Martha Stewart of kids' birthday parties. Here's how she did the treasure hunt: since the kids were all preschool age and non-readers, each clue was a photograph. She'd gone around the neighborhood and took pics in neighbors back yards, etc - places the kids would recognize since they were for the most part neighborhood pals. She actually sewed little vests for each of the kids out of some fabric that velcro would stick to, and each time they found a treasure there were stars and medal type shapes they could stick on their vests. So when they returned from the hunt, they were all wearing these decorated pirate vests in addition to the hats and eye patches. Twas hilarious! The cake was a double layer sheet cake with all sorts of treasures stuck in-between. Amazing!

- I wish I had known about this last year. One of the Moms of the children I care for had a whole pirate themed party and she couldn't find anything she needed at the Party Supply Store. What an incredible resource! Fabulous Top 10 lens, I had a hard time coming up with an idea for this weeks assignment. Top Ten Reasons to Buy a CNG Vehicle/a>. It wasn't easy though. Thanks for sharing this with us! I love Rocket Moms!! 5*****
