From the moment I first heard INXS, I was mystified by the voice of its lead singer, and in love with this powerful rock group from Austrailia.

Some twisted selection

Michael Hutchence, Garry Gary Beers, Kirk Pengilly, Jon Farriss, and Tim Farriss made up the original group known as INXS.

INXS (pronounced "in excess") is an Australian rock and New Wave band, formed as The Farriss Brothers in 1977 in Sydney. Mainstays are Garry Gary Beers on bass, Andrew Farriss on keyboards, Jon Farriss on drums, Tim Farriss on lead guitar and Kirk Pengilly on guitar/sax. For twenty years, they were fronted by Michael Hutchence on lead vocals, whose "sultry good looks" and magnetic stage presence made him the focal point of the band. Initially known for their New Wave/ska/pop style, they later developed a harder pub rock style, including funk and dance elements.

I Miss Michael
Suicide or accident, makes no difference. November, 22 1997, is a black day in the history of INXS. That is the day that Michael Hutchence was found dead in a Sydney, Austrailia hotel room.I can't believe that was already 10 years ago.
I still mourn the loss of this great musician.

J.D. Fortune
A very talented singer by the name of J.D. Fortune won the title of new lead vocalist for the group while appearing on the reality show, Rock Star: INXS.They recorded a new album, Switch, and went on tour in 2006.
Although the newly formed band is doing well, I'm sorry J.D., but somebody should have told you that Michael Hutchence could never, ever, be replaced. (At least in my books, anyway.)
Perhaps I'm not being fair to J.D., or to the band, but in my opinion, searching for a lead singer to replace the great Michael Hutchence, on a Reality TV Program, no less, sort of cheapens the whole image of INXS.
There is talk about the band considering a name change, but from what I could learn, this is just a rumour.
Personally, I wish they would have changed the name. I think that would have been the fairest way to let J.D. gain his own reputation as the great singer that he is, in his own right, and leave the wonderful reputation of INXS with Michael Hutchence, intact.
True INXS fans would still follow, no matter what they decided to call themselves.
Again, this is all just my opinion, and I apologize if I've offended any J.D. Fortune fans. I just thought it needed to be said.
