Maine Camping: Blackwoods Campground in Bar Harbor, ME
Ranked #99 in Travel & Places, #4,481 overall | Donates to Food for Everyone Foundation
Favorite Family Camping Memories are Made in Maine
Our best vacation memories are camping vacations at Blackwoods Campground in Bar Harbor, Maine. Bar Harbor is part of Acadia National Park in Maine.
We took our children there for vacations when they were young, camping with tents first, then as years went by, we moved up to a pop-up camper. When compared to what we would have paid for hotels, it saved us so much money to camp, and provided us with cherished memories. Our children are adults now, but we return to visit Maine whenever we can for a late-summer vacation. When you stay in Blackwoods Campground, you are only a short drive from so many wonderful Bar Harbor and Maine attractions, many of them natural and beautiful.
We hope to provide you with plenty of helpful resources for planning your trip to Maine and stay at Blackwoods Campground on this page.
There is nothing like listening to the bells on the buoys in the Ocean as you are dozing off to sleep in your tent or camper surrounded by the beauty and scent of evergreen trees.

Where is Blackwoods Campground?
This map will help you find your way
Typical Campsite on Seal Harbor Side of Blackwoods Campground
This campsite is on the Seal Harbor side of Blackwoods Campground. It is a fairly typical campsite, you cannot see the picnic table that is at each site. Each site also has a fire pit for campfires. Bathroom facilities are usually a short walk from sites, and there are water spigots close to most sites as well. Showers are taken off site, there's a place to shower a very short drive from the campground. The last time we were there you started the shower with quarters, I don't know if that has changed or not.
Blackwoods Campground in Acadia National Park is a must if you want to make wonderful memories with your family, or want to get away to enjoy the rustic beauty of Maine.

Church in the Amphitheater at Blackwood's Campground
A very special part of our vacation
A fond memory of our time camping at Blackwoods Campground is the outdoor service that was offered in the Amphitheater each Sunday. The services were provided by the Christian Ministry in the National Parks. We would sit together on benches with the beauty of nature all around us for a simple service, worshiping the Creator of all that we were seeing.

Whale Watches, and much more
There's a lot to do in the Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and what is called the Mt. Desert Island, area of Maine. "Yelp" is helping us out with reviews by people who have been to the sites. We have been in the park, and have done the Bar Harbor Whale Watch on this list. The whale watch was fun if you like a nice, fast boat ride, and many did see whales. We only saw one small one the day we went, but the next day, the people in the campsite next to ours saw many whale, so it's a little bit of a gamble, but worth it if you see whale.

If you are from across the country or out of the country, you will be looking for tools to help you arrange flights. This resource should be helpful to you.

- Blackwood's was conceived as a rival to the Whig-supporting Edinburgh Review. Compared to the rather staid tone of The Quarterly Review, the other main Tory work, Maga was ferocious and combative.

- This lens brings back so many memories. I'll have to check the map again, but I once lived in a little town called Waterville. I absolutely loved it, the people, and the country. It wasn't until I had my first fresh lobster there that I would eat lobster.
Great job presenting Maine's beauty.
