More recently, I have had the privelege of staging homes for sale in this town. There are some spectacular homes, and I've been lucky to work on quite a few. By way of sharing my work in Summit, I thought I'd put a lens together of as much useful information I can find about the place. Along the way maybe I can share my perspective.

"Summit = NJ's wealthiest municipality with a CITY designation! Everything else? Twp, boro or village"
Summit - how that became the name -
....from Wikipedia...
Summit has been known as
"Pie Hill"
"Beacon Hill" and the
"Heights over Springfield"
Lord Chancellor James Kent who was the Chancellor of New York State and who wrote Commentaries on American Law retired to this area in 1837 in a house he called Summit Lodge, a source that has been cited as naming the City of Summit.[7] He lived in Summit between 1837 and 1847 and lived in a small lodge on what is now called Kent Place Boulevard. The original lodge is now part of a large mansion, at 50 Kent Place Boulevard, opposite Kent Place School.

In 1837, the Morris and Essex Railroad, which became the Delaware Lackawanna and Western Railroad and is now the New Jersey Transit's Morris and Essex Lines, was built over what was then called the "The Summit" hill, and the name was later shortened to Summit.
In 1869, Summit and New Providence separated and the Summit area became the "Township of Summit". The present-day incarnation of Summit, known formally as the City of Summit was incorporated thirty years later on April 11, 1899.[11]
Recent Homes Staged in Summit, NJ

- Sold, for a ton, in roughly 58 days. Just a spectacular interior - perhaps the most beautiful and fully developed that I've ever seen.

- A curious, historical house... where we designed a custom-clue game to illustrate the home's remarkable patronage over the years, from world leaders to opera celebrities!
Summit -- a little more background --
Following World War II, the city experienced a great building boom, as living outside New York City and commuting to work became more common. New Jersey's population grew exponentially then. It was at this point, primarily that Summit took on its suburban character of tree lined streets with the large, spacious suburban houses it is known for today.
Other fun places in Summit
- The Reeves Reed Arboretum
- Beautiful gardens with fun events for the whole family year round. (when I first moved to the United States from the UK, my legal guardian was a Boston lawyer and friend of my grandfather's. His wife - Susan Reeves Deland grew up in this house!) Small world, eh?
- Lovely old hotel to stay in...
- The Grand Summit. Hmmmm, I once had a "rendezvous" there where, to help get things going, we ran the jacuzzi. it took so long to fill we went off and got going anyway, leaving it to do its thing. A significant flood later, and every towel pressed into service... and a memory that still makes me giggle today!

Water even ran out into the hallway!
