Which 1 Cup Coffee Maker Should You Get?

Ranked #70,165 in Home & Garden, #1,110,326 overall

Which is the best 1 cup coffee maker?

If you are looking for a 1 cup coffee maker then you want something which can quickly and easily give you a cup of real coffee in the morning with breakfast, or as you head out of the door, you don't want huge quantities and you don't want any fuss, so what should you get?

Well you might want to look at the Keurig range, they are all 1 cup coffee makers and they use little pre-packaged cups of coffee with filters in to save hassle. The top selling one at the moment is probably the B40 which is profiled below, but make sure you check out the price of the B60 too because sometimes they have deals on it which makes it as cheap as the B40, in which case grab it!

Or you could go for a Senseo, it uses little pods similar to the Keurig, yet it costs half the price, plus it looks stunning. You don't really get any options when brewing, but it does have a two cup option if you need it which is good.

The Black & Decker DCM18S is a great little coffee maker, it uses normal ground coffee not pods, and it just makes you a cup of coffee without fuss and dispenses it into the travel mug you get with it ready for you to nip out of the door with, but you know the best thing about it? It is less than 20 bucks! Yet the feedback on it is great.

Let's look at these 1 cup coffee makers in more detail:

The Keurig B40 - K-cup Heaven

Personally I like the whole of the Keurig range, the B70 is not the best looking machine I've seen, but it does come with the most features, the B60 is a nice little machine in the middle, yet at times it is as expensive as the B70, then other times it is as cheap as the B40 - it depends how much Amazon are discounting the price of that and the B70 at the time.

The B40 and the B60 both look amazing, and if you can get the B60 for at or near the price of the B40 then grab it with both hands, but at the time of writing then they have gone back to their normal prices so the extra $20 for the B60%u2026 it just doesn't seem worth it. But I put a little module below this section which should update with the latest prices so you can see what is happening there and make your choice accordingly.

So why should you get the B40? Well it is great looking as I said, plus it is incredibly simple to use, you just pop one of their patented k-cups into the top, close the lid and press for one of two different cup sizes, that changes how much coffee you get, but it also allows you to change how strong you want your coffee.

The little k-cups have 3 uses, they provide the coffee/tea/cocoa for you to brew, the filter the machine will use, and the area where the drink will brew. This means no messing around with filters, and no cleaning up afterwards, you just lift up the lid, take out the mess-filled k-cup and pop it in the bin - easy!

All of the Keurig range have fantastic reviews so you can't really go wrong with them, if you go for the B60 you get a larger water tank on it, plus another cup size option and the choice of two brewing temperatures, the B70 gives you more capacity again and more options.

The Black & Decker DCM18S - For people who hate waking up!

This Black and Decker coffee maker is an odd little coffee maker, but if you just want a quick, simple and cheap coffee maker, then this definitely fits the bill.

It has one purpose and one purpose only, to pass water through your coffee grinds and make you some coffee. You don't choose a cup size, but you can adjust strength by how much coffee you put in the top, and it doesn't have any fancy controls, you just put the coffee in, make sure it has water in it, turn it on and it brews your coffee and shuts itself off, simple. It comes with a travel mug so if you need to rush out of the door you can.

The surprise though, is that it is less than $20 - yes less than 20 bucks! Yet it has great reviews, people love it! It is incredibly popular, and yes it has some bad feedback just like every other coffee machine, but the majority of people love it! Which for that price is fantastic, if you don't care about fancy options and don't want to spend much money or have a coffee maker take up too much space, then this is the one for you.

The sleek Senseo SL7810/65

Ah the Senseo, price-wise this is smack bang in the middle, the Keurig B40 is around $149, the Black and Decker is less than $20, the Senseo is usually around $65 when it is on offer at Amazon.

It uses pods similar to the k-cups used by the Keurig, but they produce a bit more mess as part of the brew process involves the coffee going into a 'frothing chamber' where it aerates the mixture to give it that nice head which some people like to see, which means you need to make sure that stays clean.

The Senseo looks fantastic, I have to say that is the feature which drew me to it in the first place, it will take centre stage in your kitchen rather than having to be squirreled away in a corner where you hope nobody will notice it.

For $65 you also get a great little machine, you don't get any brewing options which is a bit of a shame, but if you just want a great tasting cup of coffee every time then this machine can give it to you, you just choose one of their pods (or two if you want it to do two cups worth, either for a bigger cup or for two normal cups) and pop it in, then press the brew button for 1 or 2 cups and let it work its magic.

In terms of the pods then you are going to pay roughly the same as you would for the Keurig, depending on what offers are on at the time, so if you can't see anything about the Keurig which really makes you want to spend $80 more on it, then this is probably the 1 cup coffee maker you have been looking for.
