10 Countries I want to visit

Where In The World Would You Like To Go?

Traveling has been on my mind lately and got me thinking about the places I'd like to visit.
Rather than going with specific monuments or land features, I will stick to regions and countries for this lens. Should I desire to expend on any particular spot, then another len will come about at that time.

Right then.
Let me think...

I did say 10, so let me get the mind rolling and see where we end up first.

Greece

Greece has always been on my mind.
What is it about Greece that makes it so attractive and makes me want to drop everything and hop on a plane?

What IS it about Greece?
  • The sea, hmmm, THE SEA !!! I dream about it. That color! have you ever seen anything so enchanting, calling you to it? Yep, you know what I mean.
  • Those bright white and blue buildings on the cliff side. Amazing towns, up and down, around and around, all to be explored on foot. No cars there. I guess maybe a bike would be ok (ouch).
  • The Art off course. All those remains of ancient civilizations are not to be ignored. The architecture, pottery, wall mosaics and paintings, archeology, mythology, etc. etc. must simply be experienced in person -non of that book stuff. Full bodied presence is required.

France

I actually grew up in France, so the country is not completely foreign to me, plus I have the added advantage of speaking the language. So why is this making the list so soon?

Simple. I've only seen a small portion of it, namely Brittany and the Paris region, and I want to explore more of it.
  • The Art, absolutely. It's everywhere. Outdoor sculptures and museums alone would take a life time to see.
  • The villages. I love walking around villages. The architecture and streets breath with personality and "homeyness." There are little shops everywhere, with bakeries in particular, teasing you with that fresh bread smell like nothing else could. They actually leave doors ajar for that very reason. Resistance is futile.
  • Galettes. That's right, I did say Galettes. This is the savory version of the better know "crepe." It is made with buckwheat flour, salt and water. It is as big as your plate and is customarily folded (not rolled) like an envelop, stuffed with mushrooms and onions. Hm-m-m.
  • Not to be forgotten: the coast. Anywhere by the sea has got my name on it. That's where I grew up and it is branded into my heart.
  • Last and certainly NOT least: the comic books, or graphic novels, as also referred to. These are second to none as fas as I am concerned (no offence meant to anyone). I just think French comic books are the best. Period. I can literally spend hours on end in a comic book shop, which, by the way, can be as big as Barns & Nobles, ALL with graphic novels! Pure Paradise.
