What does the BMW Roundel symbolize?

BMW logo and airplaneThis is what I found browsing the Web:

The Roundel logo stems from the days of its aircraft heritage, and symbolizes a spinning propeller.
And, It's NOT completely true!

A huge part of the logo are the blue and white fields, and those come off the Bavarian flag. (Bavaria is a state in Germany. Yes. BMW's come from Bavaria.)

Note: If you want to know how does the Bavarian flag look like, just google: Bavarian Flag. :)

03: The face...

When did they start to use that kidney grille?

BMW 3 series 2008 facelift E90 blueprintYea, if you're a BMW fan, you certainly know that all BMW cars have codes - E21, E30, E36, E39, E32, E12... So, what's with this?

BMW does not use automobile platforms like any other manufactures, instead, each generation has a development code( Entwicklungsnummeren ),

E = Entwicklung = Development

So, why did they switch to F code with the new 7-series?
Did they ran out of E-numbers?

And, if you really want it - compare it to a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia...

07: Why didn't they make...

E39 M5 Touring, 850i Convertible, E34 M5 Convertible, E36 M3 Compact?

BMW 5 series - E39 Touring - E34 convertibleEm... they did.
Believe it or not,
- BMW M5 E39 Touring
- BMW M5 E34 Convertible
- BMW 850i E31 Convertible

do exist!

Bmw manufactured prototypes for the listed cars, but, due to marketing strategy, they didn't send them to production. There are a lot of fan-built replicas... But, wouldn't you like to have an original one?

Toys... for BIG boys!

Decorate your office... or garage...

I admit - I have tons of BMW car die cast models in my office, in my garage, and even, in my BMW. :)

What does BMW REALLY stand for?

Bob MarleyI knew you would found out about this, sooner or later:
BMW stands for "Bob Marley and the Wailers".

For a long time Bob drove a BMW-which, as far as he was concerned, stood for Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Quote:

"I have a BMW. But only because BMW stands for Bob Marley and The Wailers, and not because I need an expensive car." - BOB MARLEY

Bonus!

All about ///M logo!

What's the story behind the BMW ///M Logo?

A little bonus!

BMW M Logo historyBMW M logo first appeared on the BMW M1 in 1978. It features three colored slashes and the letter "M". "M" stands for Motorsport. Well, that's quite common knowledge - but what about colors?

Blue one represents Bavaria and BMW.
Red one represents Texaco - oil company that was a partner of BMW Motorsport in the early days.
The purple stripe is there for decoration only, some sort of a transition between blue and red.

Interesting fact is, that BMW had to 'buy out' Texaco, when the partnership ended.

Some tech detail about the colors:
Glasurit paint codes:
Light Blue: GLASURIT-BMW 5002
Purple: GLASURIT-BMW 4000
Red: GLASURIT-BMW 353
RGB:
Light Blue: 0,138,201 (Hex: #008AC9)
Purple: 43,17,90 (Hex: #2B115A)
Red: 241,26,34 (Hex: #F11A22)
Pantone colors:
Light Blue: Pantone Process Blue
Purple: Pantone 268
Red: Pantone Warm Red
