Irish Car Bomb

- Serves: 1
- Prep Time: 5 min
- Total Time: 5 min
Next to green beer, Irish Car Bombs are probably the most ordered drink on St. Patrick's Day. Brands I like: Jameson (whiskey) Bailey's (cream liqueur) and Guinness (stout beer)
Ingredients
- 3/4 fluid ounce Irish whiskey
- 3/4 fluid ounce Irish cream liqueur
- 6 fluid ounces Irish stout beer
Instructions
Fill a shot glass with half Irish whiskey and half Irish cream. Pour Irish stout beer into a pint glass. Drop in the shot glass and drink entire contents at once. *This is not a sipping drink - if you wait too long the cream will curdle.
The Dublin Handshake
St. Patrick's Day is about fun and friendship, so why not give peace a chance? Trade in that Irish Car Bomb for a Dublin Handshake, another Irish favorite.
Ingredients
- 1/2 oz Baileys Irish cream
- 1/2 oz Irish whiskey
- 3/4 oz Sloe gin
Instructions
Just combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake well, and strain in to a rocks glass with ice.
Irish Toasts

- 'Sláinte!' (pronounced 'slawn-cha'), which means Health! and is the equivalent to 'Cheers!'
- "Saint Patrick was a gentleman,
Who through strategy and stealth,
Drove all the snakes from Ireland,
Here's a toasting to his health.
But not too many toastings
Lest you lose yourself and then
Forget the good Saint Patrick
And see all those snakes again."
- "Here's to the land of the shamrock so green,
Here's to each lad and his darlin colleen,
Here's to the ones we love dearest and most.
May God bless old Ireland, that's this Irishman's toast!"
- "May you have all the happiness
and luck that life can hold-
And at the end of all your rainbows
may you find a pot of gold."

Irish Coffee
...or How to Start and End Your Day the Irish Way!

- Serves: 1
- Prep Time: 5-10 min
- Total Time: 5-10 min
Irish Coffee is a favorite cocktail of mine because I love the combo of coffee and Irish Whiskey. It's also a really good way to end a St. Patrick's Day feast!
The History of Irish Coffee
The Port of Foyne was a busy air traffic point between Europe and United States in the 1930s and 1940s, carrying a diverse range of people from refugees and Royal members. It was the winter of 1934, the flight from Foyne left to New York in extremely bad weather that eventually caused the flight to return. Chef Joe Sheridan working at the restaurant in the terminal building offered tired passengers the coffee drink mixed with Irish whiskey. One American passenger asked if that's Brazilian coffee, and the chef answered, "that's Irish coffee."

Ingredients
- 5 - 6 oz freshly brewed strong black coffee "Strong as a Friendly Hand "
- 2 oz Irish Whiskey "Smooth as the Wit of the Land"
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar "Sweet as the tongue of a Rogue"
- Fresh whipped cream "Rich as an Irish Brogue "
Instructions
In a warm stemmed whiskey goblet, pour one jigger of Irish whiskey. (A mug or tall clear coffee cup will also do.)
Add one spoon of brown sugar and fill with strong black coffee within one inch of brim.
Stir to dissolve the sugar and top off with whipped cream, slightly aerated by pouring it over the back of a spoon.
Do not stir after adding the cream as the true flavor is obtained by drinking the hot coffee and Irish whiskey through the cream.
