10 Modern Cross Stitch Books

Cross Stitching Isn't All X's and Lines

Okay, so it is a lot of x's and lines, but that's not all it is. While reproduction samplers and old fashioned ABC samplers can be quite lovely there is a whole new world of art in the modern needlework world and I think you'll be surprised to find a few things that are out there today.

I love finding fresh styles and new designers when I'm looking for something new to stitch. I hope you enjoy these modern cross stitch variations and also that you'll have a new appreciation for needlework as a whole. Enjoy....

Old-fashioned ABC samplers are nowhere to be found in this collection of 26 stylish and witty designs that give cross-stitch a forceful new look. Unconventional wall hangings fill the first section of the book and dazzle with their bold colors, unusual lettering, and offbeat quotes from songs, books, movie dialogue, and even truck stop bathrooms. A second group of patterns features intriguing, small designs called "tattoos" to sew on T-shirts, jean jackets, bracelets, and handbags, and a final section shifts to the decoration of household items such as pillows, dish towels, and a cloth-wrapped money jar.

I have a comment. Thank you for the "modern" pattern's. I have stacks of books that I cannot part with. Only a few have a hint of something I would hang on my wall or stitch for a gift! Great stuff! I'm working on my own cross stitch lens with an idea I worked and gifted years ago, but I have some research to do. Thanks for another great lens! Bookmarked and Blessed!

Fun to see how much the art of cross-stitch has come from the standard samplers of old. Love the 'Subversive Cross Stitch'. :-) I haven't done cross-stitch in years, but love all the fiber arts, so enjoyed seeing what's new out there in the world of cross-stitch!

I love cross stitch, but I have to admit I don't have the patience for it. I like your lens.
