Bullies Be Gone!

Help your child get along with others.Bullies are ruthless, and can really make life difficult for their victims. The following is a look at ten ways to stop a bully:

First, make sure that if you are being bullied that you immediately tell someone. When you bully someone, they count on your not telling someone. They usually choose their victims carefully, and then isolate them and make them feel vulnerable and lonely because then they don't tell. They may even threaten you, etc. But you have to report the bullying.

Second, think of a bully like you would a wild animal. Never let them see or sense fear, otherwise they will never leave you alone. If they know they can get the best of you, they will. So, don't show your fear, learn to control your face and emotions.

Third, do your very best to ignore your bully. Bullies require the attention that they get from you, the validation they get from you responding emotionally, etc. So, make sure that if you have a bully, that you ignore their taunts. If you fail to respond, they will eventually get sick of it and leave you alone.

Fourth, hang with your friends. If you want to stop a bully, stay with some friends. Bullies are remiss to pick on someone who is in a pack. They prefer to deal with the loners, as they are easier targets.

Fifth, never bully back. If you stoop to their level, and bully the person back, or threaten them in return, it only encourages their behavior. So, instead, work on your own self esteem, and forget about the taunts, threats, etc. Learn to love yourself, and a bully won't be able to get to you.

Sixth, learn to stand up for yourself. A bully very rarely will continue picking on someone who stands up to them. If they push you, don't back down, don't push back, but don't let them get away with it either.

Seventh, avoid the bully, and situations that allow the bully to victimize you. Often a bully will choose their victim by opportunity. Say you are the furthest person away from the teacher in a classroom, you become the prime victim for their bullying.

Eighth, get them in trouble. The fact is, if you want to stop a bully, you have to get them in trouble when they bully you. If you don't report it, or get them in trouble, then they will just keep going.

Ninth, become bully proof. The more bully proof you are, the better off you are when it comes to stopping a bully. A bully proof person knows some self-defense, and has a strong sense of self, etc.

Tenth, act indifferent to the bully. You need to determine if you are going to be bullied by the person or not. If you decide not, then make sure you never give them the reaction they want. Instead, act indifferently.
