10 Worst Christmas Presents

The Worst Christmas Gifts for a Man

Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat... and lots of people are building web sites, lenses, hubs, etc. that purport to tell you the BEST CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR A MAN. You've seen them, I've seen them, face it we've all seen them... LOTS of them. A lot of them feature "ideas" that would NOT make a good gift for a man- at least not for me and I'm sure I'm not the only man that feels this way. These sites will try to get you to buy some foo-foo spray for your man when he really wants a nice set of grill tools. The problem is - as a SENSITIVE man - it's very hard for me to return a gift. So in the interest of helping men everywhere avoid hurting the feelings of someone who gave them an unwanted gift, here is my list of the worst gifts you can give a man for Christmas. If you're buying a Christmas present for a man, please read this and avoid some very common mistakes.

Sweaters, Socks, Neckties, Whatever

Clothes are NOT the best gift for a man...

If your husband is anything like mine, chances are you don't share taste in clothing styles. I hate the clothes he likes, and he won't be seen in public with the styles I wish he'd wear. If you want to buy clothes for your man... don't buy clothes you expect him to wear. Instead, buy something for yourself that he would love to see you wearing. Buy yourself a nice (naughty) little outfit and wear it around the house for him. He'll appreciate it much more than buying something and expecting him to wear it...

Books

Books are NOT the best gift for a man...

So your sweetheart likes to read... and you've been dying for him to read the latest "self improvement" book. Why it would make the perfect gift, right? Not so fast. Chances are your husband's tastes in books are quite different than yours. Even if you do know the things your husband likes to read about, are you sure you can pick a book on the subject he'll actually like? Instead of wondering and taking the chance of sacrificing a tree just to get him a book he won't even read, get him an Amazon.com Gift Card instead. You're still getting him a book (indirectly) and since he's picking it out you can be sure it's one he'll enjoy reading. And that is a Win-Win:)

Video Games

A video game is NOT the best Christmas present for a man...

OK, I know lots of guys like video games. Most of them also have strong opinions about the games they like and chances are they already own it. In other words, if you buy your guy a video game, at best you're buying him something he'd be getting on his own anyway. At worst, something he won't even like or appreciate. If you really must give him a video game, find out what his favorite game store is and get him a gift certificate instead.

Digital Camera

A digital camera is NOT the best Christmas present for a man...

If your husband or boyfriend is into photography, you're probably thinking that a digital camera would make a great Christmas present. Trust me, it won't. You won't get the camera he wants, he won't use it to take the pictures you want, and if you have kids there will be bickering over who gets to use it.

It is true. Unless they have specifically ask for a particular game, camera accessories or clothing item, it is rare to hit upon a good gift.
