Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. . . With these words the reader is ushered into an isolated gray stone manse on the windswept Cornish coast, as the second Mrs. Maxim de Winter recalls the chilling events that transpired as she began her new life as the young bride of a husband she barely knew. For in every corner of every room in the immense, foreboding estate were phantoms of a time dead but not forgotten -- a past devotedly preserved by the sinister housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers: a...

Sense and Sensibility (Norton Critical Editions) by Jane Austen
Sense and Sensibility is Austen's first published novel and the one now most scrutinized by historicist and feminist scholars, who offer new, complex readings of the work. A Suitable Boy: A Novel (Perennial Classics) by Vikram Seth
Vikram Seth's novel is, at its core, a love story: Lata and her mother, Mrs. Rupa Mehra, are both trying to find -- through love or through exacting maternal appraisal -- a suitable boy for Lata to marry. - The Wasp Factory is an absolutely miraculous piece of writing. The unique word choices and unmatched, imaginative descriptions pulled me right into its fictional world. Not only is this book a well-developed piece of entertainment, it is also encouragement to aspiring writers.

- I've read about 30-35 of them. I went through a classics phase a few years back and that helped clear some of them out. I did a lens on a book I wrote called "The Ten-Day Forecast" It's not a classic...but hopefully one day.
