Great lens and great topic, but I would have liked to see something a bit more organized and more diverse as far as genre goes. Also, it'd be nice if you threw in some of your own reviews or highlighted books you loved and why! Good job!

I think Finding God in the Kitchen should be added to the list! : )

The Wasp Factory is an absolutely miraculous piece of writing. The unique word choices and unmatched, imaginative descriptions pulled me right into its fictional world. Not only is this book a well-developed piece of entertainment, it is also encouragement to aspiring writers.

I've read about 30-35 of them. I went through a classics phase a few years back and that helped clear some of them out. I did a lens on a book I wrote called "The Ten-Day Forecast" It's not a classic...but hopefully one day.

Wow this is intense! I have a few mentioned here like Crime and Punishment, Jane Eyre, Memoirs of a Geisha, Kite Runner, etc. but have yet to read them. However, this lens definitely motivate me to do so :)

Definitely need to read a few of these. As a former English major, I feel a little shamed that my count is only at 20. Well, I better get to work!

I've read 34, and reread at least 3 of those listed at least once per year. I'd also add Stratton-Porter's Magic Garden. It's a read-alike to The Secret Garden, but I always enjoyed Stratton-Porter's more.

Once met John Barth (somehow) and, trying to impress him, told him we loved his novel "The Floating Opera at the End of the Road" (although in truth we had sort of only skimmed it).

Turns out what we had was a republish of two of his novels in one volume: "The Floating Opera" and "The End of the Road." which JB pointed out. Oops.

He still bought us a beer. Nice guy.

Looks like I've read 24 of the books on your list. There are several on my "to read" and a couple that might be a bit too disturbing for my tastes. Great list! :)

It's funny, because I think my ninth grade daughter has read more of these books than I have.
