Snack your way to weight loss - Low calorie snacks.

Low calorie snacks? Is it possible? Life is fast paced. We come and go and barely take time to stop and smell the roses let alone eat the way we should. The U.S. is becoming the most obese nation in the world. Fast, easy food has become a way of life and snacking in between the norm. It's said the first step in solving a personal dilemma is recognizing that it exists. The second step is breaking the habits that lead us there. Gotta snack? Here are some healthy alternatives.

There's 100 calories and then there's 100 calories.

There are many pre-packaged 100 calorie snacks but be aware; many are loaded with sugar or high-fructose corn syrup. Check salt and fat content. Many times the combined numbers can negate the health benefits of a 100 calorie snack. And from an economical stand point - many pre-packaged 100 calorie snacks are more expensive when compared to buying a full size package and rationing the snack.

Negative Calories?

Here's an interesting list of "negative calorie" foods. When you eat these foods raw or in some cases slightly cooked with nothing on them your body burns more calories digesting and processing them than what is in the actual food. Add some of these foods to your diet each day. Most are full of nutrients and won't weigh you down.

apple
cranberries
grapefruit
lemon
mango
orange
pineapple
raspberries
strawberries
tangerine
asparagus
beet
broccoli
cabbage (green)
carrot
spinach
turnip

cauliflower
celery
Chile peppers (hot)
cucumber
dandelion
endive
garden cress
garlic
green beans
lettuce
onion
papaya
radishes

Say HI before you start fixing a snack.

Hi!!! I love this list. I want to try everything on it! I am not one to sit with a small snack, only because they never quite satisfy me. But these all look like there more than just a plain, dull DIET snack. Thank you!

I like the idea of the "Chocolate-Banana Grahams".
    Will certainly try this one.
