Canon AE-1 35mm Analog SLR
The Canon AE-1 35mm Analog SLR camera was the vantage point for Canon's venture into the amateur level A-series SLRs and the emerging electronically controlled SLR market. It was the first 35mm SLR camera to be controlled solely via a built-in Central Processing Unit (CPU) and made SLR photography avaialble to beginners and amateurs at a reasonable prices.
The AE-1, based on a compact aluminum alloy chassis, is an historically significant SLR, not necessarily because of it's technological firsts, bur more on its sales. Backed by a major advertising campaign, the AE-1 sold five million units, an unprecedented success in the SLR market.
