1000 miles later, Still love my TRIKKE T-12!

A TRIKKE Millinium was just what the doctor ordered

Riding any wheeled conveyance a thousand miles is quite a feat. Riding a TRIKKE T-12 is a plum pleasing pleasure and an incredible way to get in shape! Join me in this lens as we go over how to ride the first 1000 miles and have fun on the most fun exercise machine money can buy. I am inspecting the machine which transported me each of those 1000 miles and getting nostalgic. I started the second trek recently and have logged in best I estimate, the first 10 miles!

1000 miles to go and it's looking formidable but fun.

Great exercise for TRIKKERS smal and largeTRIKKE riders are often out and about getting exercise when others don't simply because they have the most interesting way of getting from point A to B known to the modern day exercising man or woman. Carving on the TRIKKE just makes you stand out from the mundane cyclists, joggers, speed walkers and a myriad of other exercisers. The TRIKKE and its three wheel way of cambering makes you look so good as you travel mile after mile.

Having never gone a thousand miles as a goal, when the challenge was given I promptly answered the call. After answering the call I stopped and then engaged my brain and tried to figure out what had happened to make my brain agree to this madness. A thousand miles being just over the distance from Virginia Beach to my childhood home in Raymond, MS, the magnitude of my self challenge started to sink in. I was stumped but determined to complete the 1000 miles and so I started. Having a spread sheet at my disposal after each run made adding the miles a cinch for recording purposes.

One great advantage of internet marketing is that you can apply it anywhere. The business you're promoting would be recognized whenever, wherever, as long as there's an internet connection.

This looks really interesting and it's the first time I'm seeing it, so thanks for introducing it here. Looks like a lot of fun and exercise at the same time. Need good weather for it though.

I've never seen these before. How do you make them go if you are on flat ground or going up a hill? I don't get the concept by just looking at the photos.
  • COUNTRYLUTHIER Feb 11, 2012 @ 8:11 pm | delete
KonaGirl, the principle is the same as roller blading or skating, side to side motion and momentum. Up hill is tough but doable for those who've been riding a while. Thanks for the question.

Mental fortitude and preparation

Wanting to do a thing is good. Preparing to do a thing is awesome. Completing a thing is incredible. Starting with the desire to ride my T-12 TRIKKE one thousand miles was somewhat exhilarating then that pesky reality set in. I rapidly inoculated myself against quitting before I got started by running through the benefits VS the costs. Quite frankly, I knew I was going to enjoy being out in the sunshine, watching the look on peoples faces as I zoomed by over and over again at Mt. Trashmore.
Now that I've recovered sufficiently, follow my antics and trip log as I attempt to log in my next 100 miles. I've actually logged the inaugural miles at Mt. Trashmore. The improvements to the park by Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation are great. Once the calibration run is completed, I anticipate logging as many miles as possible. Join me at Mt. Trashmore on your T-12, who knows how many miles/pounds we can rack up. See ya there!

Picking the Battle Ground

Let no one fool you. 1000 miles is a long way. It is a long way in a car, a long way on a boat, and an incredibly long way on a three wheeled cambering vehicle called a TRIKKE. I was determined to succeed soooo, I needed a place that brought out the best in me and motivated me to ride regularly. After all, I was going to be doing it a lot.
The place I chose to undertake this epic personal goal was Mount Trashmore Park in beautiful Virginia Beach Virginia. The park so named due to its being built atop a former landfill. That being said, it is a nice park and it is still sought out by many visitors and natives of Virginia Beach and so, I made it the site of my quest.

My miles were generally ridden around about a 1.9 mile asphalt trail. After riding the desired number of laps, I multiplied my laps by the distance and recorded the mileage on a spread sheet.

This was no fast feat. In fact, it took about 11 months. The first 9 months were fairly lax as I started in May. By the following March, with the goals end coming closer, I started taking it more seriously and rode as many as 20 or miles in a session.

I finally reached my goal about 1 day late and in my estimation just over 1000 miles traveled in the park and around the lake.

Millinium II is under way, COUNTRYLUTHIER has started his second thousand mile run!

After I completed the 1000 mile goal, I came to the realization that I had just completed a major goal. I had completed the goal nearly perfectly predicted on time and that no one was required to be there to put on the riding crop to get me to the finish line. I had to supply my own motivation since I had ridden nearly all 1000 miles solo. My take away was that we are all capable of achieving incredible goals, whether 100 miles or 1000 miles. Formidable things or giants fall too if you show up every day and keep whittling them down.

I am as they say, back in the saddle again. I've managed to get the first 10 miles under my belt with beautiful VIrginia Beach weather. Looking to really get the 2012 spring in gear at Mt. Trashmore, my favorite location for laps.

I've found an alternate location that will let me trike without driving and will use it as my backup.

Squidoo Fans, Millinium II is underway!

Wish me luck

Spring has sprung let's get some exercise!
