What could you do with a million friends?

2. Using myspace buttons 

Do you have a website? Are you a Squidoo lensmaster? Are you a member of any other social networking sites?

Use the myspace buttons to let people find your profile and add you!

You can see the selection by scrolling right to the bottom of any myspace page and clicking Promote!

An example of a myspace button is this:

This can increase your number of friends if you put your little myspace button in a few places.

3. Joining Groups on myspace 

Joining groups on myspace is a good way to get found and added by people with similar interests.

Did you know there is a Squidoo group on myspace? It's called Success with Squidoo.

Join a couple of groups on myspace and people you have stuff in common with will see you. It's then your job to make the want to add you.

4. Starting your own groups 

Starting your own group on myspace is a good way to get people passionate about a particular topic to NOTICE YOU on myspace.

As an example, I searched for a Little Shop of Horrors group on myspace so I could join. I joined the group and I also added the person who STARTED the group.

So start your own groups! Get your name and pic out there. Get people noticing you. It's all about networking.

Why are you on myspace? Go and start a group for other people who are on myspace for the same reason as you!

5. Using your invite link 

Just like most things, not everyone you know will be a member of myspace. So whilst you're trying to get started by trying to find people to add... why not just annoy your friends until they join too?

This happened to me. I wasn't a member of myspace until recently. All my friends who WERE members would be on at me to join all the time! So I did.

So... get annoying!

And give them your invite link. If they join because of your invite link they're automatically added as your friend.

You can find your invite link by clicking 'Invite' at the top of any myspace page, and click 'Show my invite link' on the left of the page.

6. Friend Trains 

Ever heard of a friend train?

Until I joined MySpace, I hadn't.

The way a friend train works is this: You add yourself to the list, and you get featured at the top. People can add you as a friend, then add themself to the list. It's a really easy way of getting your profile link out there, getting your pic and link featured a few places, and getting more friend requests.

To add yourself to the friend train (to get more friends), go to www.coolprofile.info

P.S. you'll need your friend ID for this. This is not the word you chose as your profile link. It's your ID number, like 1499490 or 848944 something.

7. Post comments on popular profiles 

You know you often come across people with tens of thousands of friends? And you look at the total number of friends and you say to yourself "Wow! Their profile must get seen thousands of times every day!"...?

The first thing you should do is add them as a friend. Then when they accept your friend request, post a comment on their profile saying something ALONG THE LINES OF 'Hey hey hey... thanks for adding me! You must think I'm a cool person ;-) Thanks for checking out my profile. Love, peace, frogs, Lewis xx'

And your comment will be seen by some of the thousands of people who view the profile each day.

And some of those people will add you as a friend, because hey - you're a fun looking person :)

There is a piece of software that will seek out popular profiles for you, but the company who has made it and is marketing it are not reliable, don't reply to emails, don't pay affiliates, and have sold products in the past and stopped updating them (so they no longer work). So I wouldn't recommend buying it. Just do it manually. It's easy enough. The company will only take your money and give you very little in return.

8. Find your 'add me' link 

Go to your profile and find the 'Add Me' link that people will click to add you to their friends list.

Right click on the link/button and select 'Copy Shortcut' (or 'Copy Link Location' if you're using firefox) and you will notice absolutely nothing happen.

You will now have a link (similar to the one below) copied to your clipboard.

Now head over to TinyURL.com and paste the link into the box to 'make url tiny' and you will be given a small looking URL as a result.

Copy THAT to your clipboard and paste it into the bottom of your email signature, or in your bio, or your newsletter or to your email list, or anywhere that people will see it.

Annoying, isn't it?

If you're trying to make myspace work in your work or at school, the link below will make it work.

Let me explain... you can access myspace using what is called a PROXY. You don't need to know how this works, but just know that it does. Basically, a proxy is just a link that lets you bypass the block on myspace from the school or work computers.

The problem is... as soon as the admin (who blocked myspace there in the first place) finds the proxy being used, that too will be blocked. But then you can just use a new proxy.
