Have you ever wanted to start collecting original art but felt you couldn't afford to buy an original oil painting? Many people feel that way. That's why I offer small format paintings. Each one is an original creation, painted with as much inspiration and care as my larger works. These little gems are 6x8 inches, unframed. They are painted in oil paint and ready for you to frame. Each one is $100. They are affordable enough to buy in multiples and hang in a grouping. They are small enough to sit on a shelf, desk or mantle, yet when framed they can create a striking presence on a wall. A small format original oil painting also makes a very special gift.

The inspiration for $100 Paintings
Why paint small everyday?
I began doing these small daily, (or almost daily) paintings back in January of 2005. They are a wonderful way for me to stay fresh and creative and avoid "painters block". They're also a wonderful way for people to collect original art at affordable prices. My inspiration comes from many places for these small pieces, household items that often go unnoticed but which upon closer examination have something fascinating about them either in the way of color, shape, form or texture. Little bits of the natural world like pebbles, pinecones, shells and seeds. Flowers from my garden. Sometimes a little landscape is a very satisfying image, like a small window into the wide world. Food also makes a great subject! I have many, many request for "junk food" and "dessert" paintings. Perhaps that's a good way to satisfy the craving for comfort food without the calories LOL.I find these small paintings very enjoyable to create and I think they carry with them that sense of joy and fun. I hope you enjoy them too!
Where to Buy $100 Paintings
- The Painting a Day Project
- This collection of paintings was the first painting-a-day series that I did. These small works of art vary in size from 5x7 in. to 8x10 in. They depict everyday items from home and garden. A computer mouse, a slice of canteloupe, a tea cup, a donut, a fishing lure. Most are oil paintings a few are done in casein paint. This is the collection featured in Domino Magazine. This month I've started to add new paintings to this collection, check the blog frequently as I post a new work everyday.
- The Flower-a-Day Series
- I'm an avid gardener and have large perennial gardens that I designed and installed myself. In the Spring of 2006 I began a series of floral paintings and gardenscapes. This colorful series captures the ever changing parade of blooms in my garden. All of these paintings are done in oil paint, the vast majority are 6x8 inches, a few are other sizes. In this collection you'll find fabulous peonies, roses, iris, daylilies, and
much more! - Petitescapes- small format landscapes
- This is a brand new series of small format landscape paintings. These small paintings will encompass the same themes as my larger landscape work. Salt marshes, farms, fields, woods, rocky coasts, rivers and all the beautiful, unspoiled natural places southern New England has to offer.
