    Love this lens!

I am the first one to laugh at myself, and face it, we all do silly things sometimes. I think if it is done with humour and not as a personal attack, most times it would be ok, when it gets rude, down and dirty, or as a hurtful attack, then it crosses the line. In general, I think politics crosses the lines most times :-)

Just popping by again. I wonder how she'll do in 2012 especially after the crosshairs palaver? Blessed by an Angel.

Thanks for posting good stuff! I appreciate the work you have done. Good lens. I've 5*'d it!

Yes of course political humour has cross the line with Sarah Palin. Any criticism of Obama is considered racism by left wing liberal extremists and out of bounds whereas Palin is constantly attacked, not for her intelligent common sense arguments, but with the usual liberal personal type attacks. At least let us have intelligent debates on important subjects. We could begin with balancing the budget and make sure the law and border is maintained by not allowing illegals to walk into our country.

    Great lense guys!

I would guess that with the latest election results there may be some kinder words about Sarah. This lady just gets more interesting!
  • JoanneOtt Oct 1, 2010 @ 12:52 am | delete
I really object to the way conservative women are being treated. Christine ODonnell and Sharron Angle are two other examples. The media treats them a lot differently than they do liberal women.
  • Home-Interior-Designer Sep 19, 2010 @ 3:33 pm | delete
I love the soccer playing Palin about to kick Obama's arse. Highly amusing. I've included this lens in the featured section of my own Sarah Palin themed lens: http://www.squidoo.com/home-interior-style-sarah-palin

I see your Sarah Palin lens doesn't get very many comments either. Thanks for lensrolling mine to yours, I'll do the same. These lenses will get more popular in 2012...lol! (maybe)

I enjoy political humor and saw Shara Palin doing humor and jokes herself this week. 2012?

What a great lens you have created! Humor is so important in life. Sarah is sure raking in some money these days, and she ain't no dummy. I try to stay out of politic but I sure do enjoy the jokes... ~ Have a great day Susan!

Your lens got lots of people involved. Way to go girl!
  • TomTerrific Jan 3, 2009 @ 3:41 pm | delete
For me the question is not whether the humor about Palin is appropriate or not, it's whether the vitriol-disguised-as-humor is spread evenly between all the candidates.

And of course, it's not. The New Yorker runs a cover with the Obamas dressed as muslims, intending to mock the conspiracy freaks and the entire liberal press goes bananas! And where are the jokes about Obama's skinny legs or his 'experience' as a community organizer? Both are ripe for the mocking. But Instead, the token on SNL always plays him straight and true, serious and sincere. What's so funny about that? No wonder SNL was in the toilet UNTIL they started mocking Palin! The highest ratings of the season. How sad is that?

Even conservative commentators are upset whenever anyone mocks Obama. Recently, Rush got criticized by, of all people, Michael Savage(!) for his "Barack, the Magic Negro" parody. Nevermind that the term "magic negro" was placed into the cultural lexicon decades ago by a black intellectual
  • Susan52 Dec 4, 2008 @ 5:22 am | in reply to oregonmike | delete
Oregonmike, I believe you missed the point. I said absolutely nothing to degrade anyone. I simply provided evidence and asked a question, is this type of political humor acceptable or is it not, and allowed dozens of people to comment. Seems you missed the free speech quote, which I believe Governor Palin, for whom I have the utmost respect, would certainly support. Sorry you didn't "get it."
  • oregonmike Dec 4, 2008 @ 1:14 am | delete
Well Susan 52, it looks as though you did the best job you could to degrade a very special person who deserves much more respect than she is getting from you, the media, or anyone else who shoots their mouth off on a subject then asks the question later, "Was I right, or wrong, about this?" Well I am an Alaskan and we have more respect for people who have worked their way up the ladder through a lot of sweat, tears, and a lot of caring to get where they are in order to try and make this country a much better place to live. And she has certainly done that.
If Squidoo gives your site the "Lens of the Day" award, it doesn't say much for the Squidoo management to condone such a site to begin with. Needless to say, as a newcomer to Squidoo I just lost a lot of enthusiasm and respect. Infact, from the pictures I saw of you, I thought you had much more prestige tha to stoop to something such as this. Guess I was wrong.

Great lens... worth for being Lens of the day! :)
  • tandemonimom Nov 10, 2008 @ 9:38 am | delete
Political humor should stick to politics, really. It's the only way to maintain a civil social interaction during the heated times of elections.
  • aloneincrowd Nov 6, 2008 @ 2:20 am | delete
    a great humorous lens...
  • Optimist1 Nov 5, 2008 @ 12:01 pm | delete
Your lens raised raised some good questions about the media portrayal of Sarah Palin. I don't have an answer, and yes it does seem unfair. I've laughed at Tina Fey/Sarah Palin. Until I read your lens, I hadn't been aware of the rest.

Congratulations on been a lens of the day.

    Congrats on LOTD!
  • Homunculus Nov 4, 2008 @ 11:22 am | delete
When you live and breathe ad hominem invective as Sarah Palin does, you sow what you reap. It's not like she's "innocent." She likes to lable people "socialists" etc. (as in McCarthyism). If she can't stand the heat, she should get out of our kitchen. (And she will, in about 12 hours from this writing).
    Check out

    Hotcha!
  • CCrew Nov 4, 2008 @ 11:04 am | delete
I have no idea why the decision is difficult. Anyone who has not watched the mass media promote Obama 70 -30 and has done their own research soon learns that Obama hangs out with some very nasty characters.

Why is someone who would not honor the flag or gets his values from a pastor who says "Not God bless America but God damn America" even being considered.

Why won't the media release critical information about Obama?

It is all too scary for me to even consider voting Obama - I don't care who his opponent is.

I think Tina Fey and professional comedians are usually very funny, but some of the stuff people put on the web about Palin is tasteless, just as some of the stuff about Hillary and Obama is tasteless.

Being in Australia I don't get the full coverage relating to Sarah Palin, just bits and pieces. From what we get here they make her out to sound pretty dopey.

Is she really that bad? If she is and McCain wins it is pretty scary to think she could be Pres if something happens to the old fella.

Ideally, I think it's not good to say something about someone unless you'd be willing to say it to their face. In reality and being human I've probably laughed at things that were disrespectful. I agree with the post above regarding "insult humor, or anything passing as humor that requires a victim that must be hurt (as opposed to merely being poked good-naturedly)" not being desirable.

Sometimes the only way to get out of bed in the morning is to be able to make jokes about that which we find offensive or frightening in our politicians. I have created a Sarah Palin lens of my own...created out of my personal horror, after the convention. http://www.squidoo.com/cheney_w_lipstick .
Lensrolled this to mine. Great job!

I do enjoy political humor. I think that the Republican party deserves everything that is thrown at them; humor and otherwise.
