101 Reasons Summer Can't Come Soon Enough

Why is Summer So Fun?

There are so many things to do during the summer months. I find that kids can't seem to find anything to do. So I sat down and brainstormed as many ideas I could think of that we can do durring summer. Take a look over the list and pick out a few things you and your family can do this summer.

1. The Sun

It will get us out of winter

We take it for granted, but the sun is the most important thing in our lives. Without it we would not survive. We would die.

Usually durring the winter we forget that the sun is there. we forget that this great ball of burning gas will burn us if we don't watch how much time we spend under it.

It is also one of the most beautiful things God has ever made.

2. Humidity

We forget how much we enjoy the humid weather. During the winter we suffer from extremely dry skin. I remember times when my knuckles would bleed beacuse they were so dry from the cold air. Then in the summer we complain that we are drowning in our atmosphere.

3. Green Leaves

Durring the winter, most of the plants are in a dormant state. When things start to warm up, the trees begin to open their leaves. They rurn a light shade of green and show the world a fresh new opportunity. I like leaves.

4. The Beach

I have known people in my life who have lived all their life without ever going to the beach. The beach is one of those things everyone needs to do at least once in their lifetime. There is enough beach in our country where you can get to it within a few hours of driving. The only time this would be a proble would be if you lived in the northern middle states.

I was lucky in my young adulthood. I was working a third shift position and rented a condo about a mile from the beach in Florida. If I couldn't sleep when I got home from work, I would jump on my bike and ride to the beach, sit on the sand and watch the sun rise. Everyone needs to experience that some time in their life.

5. Shorts

Shorts are a luxury that most of us live for in the summer. In winter we struggle to stay warm in our sweat pants. If we wanted to wear shorts we would have to crank up the heat to the point that we would not be able to afford anything else.

For most people, wearing shorts is a privilidge. I think more than half of the jobs out there require their employees to weAr pants when they come to work. When these people get home, they are relieved when they are able to change into something more comfortable.

6. Flowers

This is another one of those things that you can only get during the warm months of the year, unless you live in florida and other areas that are warm all year long. You also might be able to see flowers in the winter if you have a great greenhouse or plants inside under some kind of grow light.

Flowers are something that seem to raise just about everyones spirits. It doesn't matter how masculine you are, there is somethng soothing about the sight of all the different colors and the soft petals on the flowers. The only time it may not be calming to someone would be when that person is allergic to the flowers.

7. Lawn Mower

Some people hate the job of mowing the grass. I don't mind it. I just don't always find the time to get outside and mow the grass. When I do though, I love my self-propelled walk behind mower. It goes up the hills in my back yard without too much trouble.

I don't get to mow during the winter. The grass stops growing and it just doesn't need to be cut. What I do have to do is get out there once a month and crank the sucker up. The first winter I had the mower, I didn't start it a few times while not using it. It gave me a hard time starting that following spring. It took me nearly a half hour to get it started. Not any more. Starting it once a month during the winter months assures it will start when I need to use it in the spring.

8. Song Birds

Most of the time we ignore the background noises. The sounds birds make are among those noises. I think we should stop every once in a while and just listen. The number of bird songs are as many as human laughs. Each bird has several songs to sing. Each bird sings for several different reasons. These songs were not meant for us, but if we take the time to listen, we will be blessed by what we hear.

9. Butterflies

Have you ever taken the time to watch caterpillars crawl across the ground just to get to a plant they can eat. Then they climb up the stem of said plant and proceed to strip that plant of every single leaf. I planted some milkweed in the front yard several years back knowing they would attract butterflies. I didn't expect all those plants to look like a bunch of sticks sticking out of the ground when the caterpillars got to them. That was OK though. a few weeks later I had a bunch of Butterflies flying around the yard looking to lay more eggs.

10. Weddings

If you have ever been to a wedding, then you know they are some of the most joyous occasions you can do today. It seems that most weddings happen in the spring or in the summer, mostly because of the temperature. Lets party and celebrate!

11. Bare Feet

During the winter, it is too cold to walk around barefoot or even in sandals. That is one reason the summer is so awesome. You can walk around barefoot, grass, carpet or sand between your toes. There is nothing like it.

12. Baby Kittens

Have you ever played with a kitten. There is just something about a kitten that brings joy to your heart. It is true that kittens can be born any time of the year, but Summer time seemed to be the best time to adopt them. Take some time and watch the kittens in the following videos.

13. Scent of Jasmine

I remember as a kid having several Jasmine bushes outside in the back yard. Certain times of the year when I would step outside, the air would be full of the scent of Jasmine. It was a wonderful sensation, and great memory. I wish for everyone to have the same experience if at all possible.

14. Bonsai

You have probably seen Mr Miagi on the Karate Kid spending time trimming trees in a Japanese art form called Bonsai. This hobby is a skill that brings a kind of peace to the soul. It is a kind of meditation that can take years of practice and patience. I found a series of videos from a guy in the UK who does bonsai for a living. Take a look at some of the trees he has turned into beautiful bonsai.

15. Home Repair

We all want to save a little money. One of the ways to do this is to do some of the repairs around your home yourself. There are all kinds of things you can tackle yourself. One of those things is toilet and sink repairs. Another is building additions to your home like arbors and trellises and decks. Think about doing some of these things yourself.

16. Pony Tails

During the summer, it can get hot. If you have long hair that heat is somewhat amplified. The best way I know of to lift that heat is to either tie up your hair or cut it off. I think cutting your hair can be a decision that should not be taken lightly. Pony tails are so versatile. You can let them hang, or let them shoot off the top of your head. You can braid them or add beads to them. Take a few minutes and check out the following pony tails. They are fun.

17. Tank Tops

Summer is the perfect time to wear tank tops. They are cool and allow you to get as much of a tan as you possibly can without going topless. They make all kinds of tank tops too. You can get them with just about anything written on them. You can get them in just about any color and fabric type. You can wear them just about anywhere and they don't have to be worn in a casual setting. If you think you might want a tank top of two, chek out the following auctions.

18. Water Slides

Lead You to Some Coolness

There is nothing like the excitement that you get when you are sliding down a tube of water at tremendous speeds. Turning in all kinds of directions and making drops and spins and that final ultimate splash is unlike any other experience. There are hundreds of water parks in the US and many of them do not cost a lot to get into. This summer you should think about going to a few of them.

19. Gazebos

I think everyone would love to have a gazebo in their backyard. It is something that brings a bit of shade and a place for you and your family and friends to congregate, share conversation and even play games. They are great for parties or just getting away to read or draw or anything else you may want to enjoy.

20 Grape Vines

I Think Everyone Loves Grapes

Think about Grapes as a kid. You loved them. I know I did. They were something of a treat without being something bad for you. You could eat as many of them as you wanted and not be in danger of getting sick. We froze our grapes and they made an awesome treat. Yummy.
