Focusing on the Economy
In fact from a personal prospective it's not the economy, it's the me-conomy and the u-conomy. In a larger sense, more than jobs have left the country, cashflow, taxes and hope have also left the country, so there is less activity and thus less opportunity and certainly less optimism.
Unless you are an investor, or somehow involved with securities, the economy is meaningless. Every time I see a story on the economy, I run my hand in my pocket to see if anything changed for me. Guess what, it did not. Remember in the nineties when the phrase was "Its' The Economy Stupid" ? Well today its' the MeConomy. So it is the MeConomy that we should be focused on. That is what this lens will certainly focus on.
Now the recent economic downturn has wreaked havoc with many and dimmed the prospects for a large number of people. As I look at the predicament we are in, It's clear to me at least that jobs as we know them will not return in time to save us. Something else is needed. I will cover that in this lens.
It's evident that we're on our own when it comes to jobs, mortgages and the like. What some of us have to do is get completely on our own, so we have complete control of our lives, and beyond the reach of outsourcing and the stock market.

How To Develop A 1099 Mentality
It's no secret that most people are concerned about jobs. We've seen dramatic declines in employment that has been on a down-slide for a while now. A turn around in this situation is not likely to come anytime soon. We've all known that the traditional job that lasted 20 years is gone forever. As I recall the regression, at first you could expect to be on a job for 20 or 30 years. Then, it was 10 or so years. Then it was 5 years. Now you're lucky if you have a job at all. This economic shift has caused many to become self-employed. Many have even become successful at it, but still many more are having extreme difficulty. There are a number of reasons for this. Working for someone else is a pretty simple formula. You go to work, do your assigned responsibilities, and get paid. Being self-employed on the other hand places a lot more responsibilities on the individual. Many have trouble switching from a 1040 mentality to a 1099 mentality. 1040 and 1099 of course refers to the IRS income reporting required when filing as an employee or a self-employed person respectively.
The 1099 mentality requires a lot more personal management of things going on around you daily. It requires planning and implementation to keep the self-employed individual organized. Then there's budgets, taxes, expenses, equipment, insurance, accounting, personnel, and the list goes on and on.
The main issue is one of discipline in the various components of a particular type of business. Problems often arise when the self-employed person is ill-equipped to manage, and fails to get the education and training required to be successful.
A sobering statistic is that 97 percent of small businesses fail within 3 years. There are many possible reasons for that, but the one I want to focus on is this failure to make the mental transition necessary to focus on the important issues
to manage the business process effectively.
It can't be overstated, the need to be prepared and that includes being educated. Fortunately, there is a lot of good information, education and mentoring available on the Internet and offline as well. One has to recognize the requirement and act on it. There is always an element of emotionalism involved in becoming self-employed, however it has to be tempered with the real world facts and demands on time and talent to keep things moving smoothly.
Right now there is very good news n that front:
While we acknowledge that most businesses fail within the first 3 years, may we suggest a business that people are applying themselves and becoming successful within 18 months

Is The American Dream Still Alive
Is Network Marketing A Viable Business
The answer very much depends on who you ask. There are some network marketers making outrageous amounts of money while others have quit because either they ran out of money or patience, or both. There are of course reasons why people give up and quit. They might have been promised untold riches in 6 months or less. They might have been told to just sign up and you will accumulate distributors easily to fill your down-line, with minimal effort.
No matter the reason for failure, Something they need to know or something they did not do. I've been around network marketing for over 15 years, and I can recount story after story to you about how excited I was when I signed up with a company, and how disappointed I was when reality for me sat in. The reality is, not being properly trained to do network marketing just sets you up for failure, and failure abounds in the Network Marketing Industry. That residual income you strive to achieve is often just out of reach, so you are forced into a decision of whether you can continue to fund yourself, or give up because you cannot continue to take the hit financially. Oh, and if you recruit people with the same hype that caused you to sign, they probably won't last either.
Still though, there are those one percenters who continue to prosper in network marketing, which begs the question, What do they know that the rest of us do not? Do they really know that many people? I know a guy with over 100,000 people in his down-line. How did he achieve that? I know this, he has a lot more friends than I do. Seriously though, there is really something missing, something wrong with the approach, something they are not telling us. When you find that out, you'll begin to understand why you failed, and guess what, it's not your fault, you were just misinformed about how to do network marketing and succeed.

Balance is the Buzzword
The fact is, the average person has no idea of all the invaders that are constantly chipping away at his or her health and well being. There is probably 3 times more going on that is unseen as there is seen. So while we bear some responsibility, much goes on beyond our knowledge.
The same people who can afford to have someone come in once a week and wash and wax all three cars, pay little or no attention to their health unless a pain reminds them that they are human. Then it's off to the doctor to get rid of the pain. Once the pain is gone, it's back to whatever they were doing before the pain. Without understanding that pain is the outward indication that something is wrong, and has been getting that way for some time. Barring an accidental injury, nothing just happens, it's been happening and has just gotten bad enough to notice.
In the Wellness Consultancy Group we delve into many of these health related issues and provide keen insight that is timely and void of all the hype.
