Johnny Depp: Sexiest Man Alive.

I have never tried to hide my unconditional and neverending love for Johnny Depp, regardless of the fact that he's been with the mother of his children for years and years and is only 2 years younger than my father. He is amazing, and I have compiled his 10 best films ever.

Film Number Ten

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl

Role: Captain Jack Sparrow

These films are intensely popular. I have posters from all three movies in my room, and have had a calendar every year.

Johnny really performs wonderfully in these films, but it's low on the list because I know in my heart [though it pains me to say so] that there's not a huge range of acting required of him for Captain Jack. even so, Pirates ranks 10th on my list!

Film Number Nine

Blow

Role: George Jung

Johnny portrays a man entrenched in the cocaine industry. He plays Mr. Jung sincerely and seems to have done quite a bit of research. The story is very touching considering the subject matter. This film is based on a true story.

Awards:
Prism award for Best Theatrical Feature Film.

Film Number Eight

Donnie Brasco

Role: Joe Pistone AKA Donnie Brasco

Starring next to Al Pacino is no small task for any actor. But, Johnny was great in this movie. He plays Joe Pistone, an undercover FBI agent known as Donnie Brasco who successfully infiltrates the Bonnano crime family. He poses as a diamond expert from Florida. Johnny Depp met with the real life Joe Pistone seveal time to prepare for the role.

Awards:
Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actor [Al Pacino]
National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actress [Anne Heche]

Film Number Seven

Secret Window

Role: Mort Rainey

Johnny plays Mort Rainey, a writer, who lives in a cabin a few miles away from a small town. He is going through a divorce with his wife, who he caught cheating. Soon he finds himself being stalked and tormented by a man who calls himself Shooter and claims Mort stole his story and messed up his ending. This movie is a great thriller, but is not very bloody, and is based on a novel by Stephen King.

I feel this movie is horribly underrated. I thought it was scary without being gory, which is getting rarer all the time! This is one of those films that flies under the radar, but is definitely worth checking out.

Awards:
none.

Film Number Six

Sleepy Hollow

Role: Ichabod Crane

Johnny plays Ichabod Crane in this classic story about a Headless Horseman who rides around decapitating people in the small town of Sleepy Hollow. He is first skeptical, but eventually comes around and saves the town from Headless doom.

Film Number Five

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Role: Benjamin Barker/Sweeney Todd

Acting in a musical is completely different from acting in a regular movie. This alone displays Johnny Depp's immense versatility. He sings very well, and plays Sweeney Todd's particular brand of crazy very well.

Film Number Two

The Libertine

Role: John Wilmot AKA the Earl of Rochester

Johnny plays the Earl of Rochester, who is a poet that drank and shagged his way to infamy. His character dies at 33 of syphilis. His decline and debauchery and chronicled in the film and though the subject matter is heavy, Johnny Depp plays the role perfectly, although not famously.

This, too, is one of Johnny's lesser-known movies, but it is excellent. The movie is not made of loveable characters, the subject matter is heavy, and it's a period piece. This probably explains the film's lackluster sales and popularity, but it is definitely worth a watch.

Awards:
British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actor/Actress [Rosamund Pike]

Film Number One

Edward Scissorhands

Role: Edward Scissorhands

In this film, a Frankenstein-like scientist creates a young man, but dies before he can create his hands, leaving the young man with scissors for hands... this is Edward. Edward is extraordinarily gentle and falls in love with a local girl. This movie is a classic by now. It's touching, and Johnny Depp does an excellent job in this role.

Awards:
Saturn Award for Best Fantasy Film
BAFTA Film Award for Best Production Design
Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation
Sant Jordi Award for Best Foreign Actress [Winona Ryder]
Sant Jordi Award for Best Foreign Film
