Don't go by the photo alone

I've included this basket to illustrate the importance of reading the product description and just choose a basket by picture alone. Many gift basket companies do have a product exchange policy stating if products are unavailable like products will be substituted in the basket. If this is a concern to you be sure to contact the gift basket company before your purchase. With this particular basket, the picture shows a heart shaped, red basket but when I scrolled to the product description it says it comes in a white, oval shaped basket. A far cry from a heart basket. So be sure to read everything about your gift basket before purchasing it- no matter where you order it from.

Also, another thing to look at before purchasing a gift basket concerns chocolates ability to absorb odors. So. if you are giving a Valentines Day spa basket you want to make sure that the basket artist hasn't stuck chocolate in it also. If there is chocolate and other edibles mixed with a spa basket and its the one you really want to give, contact the basket maker with your concerns, some basket pro's have learned ways to eliminate this odor absorption problem.

After viewing this showcase you may be inspired to create your own Valentines Gift Basket. A spa basket makes a unique Valentines Day gift basket. With a spa basket you are able tailor make it with the scents and lotions your Love enjoys.

The first step in creating this spa gift basket is to go to your bath and body shop (extra points for finding a local store that creates its own bath and body products) and pick out products with scents you know your Love will enjoy. Besides bath and body pick out accessories such as loofahs, eye masks, and a blow up heart shaped bath pillow. Don't forget the candles to help set the mood.

Your next stop is a craft store. Browse through the basket selection (you can also look at fancy metal or vases) and find one that will hold the products you selected. Also, check to be sure the container you pick can be used to accent your Loves home and remain as a romantic memory of Valentines Day, 2010. Also, while at the craft store, pick out some red shred to embellish your spa basket with. You might also look for embellishments that look like soap bubble. Also, you should be able to fine some cello that you can put over your gift basket and shrink with a hair dryer to seal everything in place. Also, pick up some ribbon or raffia to tie on the finished basket.

A little warning; when putting together valentines gift baskets, if you don't want to mix chocolates (I wouldn't put anything edible in) with scented spa products and candles. The chocolate will pick up the scent and taste funny.
