Toothaches - The Worst Pain Ever
Toothaches always seem to appear on the days you can't get into the dentist. What are you to do, just wait with your mouth in pain? Toothaches and pains can be caused by a variety of reasons, from a root infection to an abscess. Though visiting a dentist is recommended, it may not always be an available option.Toothaches are sometimes caused by an irritation of the pulp, known as pulpitis. This can be either reversible or irreversible. The pulp contains nerve endings that are very sensitive to pain. Toothache can be caused by a problem that does not originate from a tooth or the jaw. The pain can become unbearable. There are times you seriously think about taking out a pair of pliers, getting the best grip you can, closing your eyes, taking a deep breath and yanking the painful tooth from your mouth to get some relief.
It is always a good idea to rinse your mouth with water and gently floss, in case a food particle is the culprit. The toothache is often allayed by placing a small piece of onion on the bad tooth or gum. Dental (tooth) infection, decay, injury, or loss of a tooth are the most common causes of dental pain. Toothaches are often accompanied by other tooth cavity symptoms like visible pits or holes in the teeth, pus around the teeth, pain while biting, etc. It can be prevented from occurring by rinsing the mouth with antiseptic rinses and regular brushing (twice a day).
The toothache can quickly spread to the entire jaw area, making it tender and sensitive. You may notice that the pain worsens when you lie down, because of the increased pressure on the tooth. It's a very frequent problem and can occur without a forewarning. Most of the times tooth decay or bacterial infection gives rise to toothaches. The toothache can also be caused by a problem that does not originate from a tooth or the jaw.
Never the less, toothaches can be mild, moderate, chronic or severe in nature. It can, however, be treated by resorting to the natural ways.
Toothache Prevention
Brushing and flossing the teeth at least twice a day will greatly reduce the chances of tooth decay and cavities. Brush your teeth regularly. Toothpaste is something which we take for granted everyday. It has become an essential part of our daily life. Using an antimicrobial rinse will also keep the bacteria levels low. You should brush after every meal to remove the pieces of food that get caught between your teeth and eventually rot. Flossing helps to remove some of the bacteria and food trapped between the teeth that simple brushing leaves behind. Be gentle with your gums when you do this or you can cause damage.
