Article Of The Week

Keeping up with the Pace

We are entering some pretty hard times. I know of four major Florida newspapers where the Advertising Departments have been hit really hard-stories abound of being outsourced to India. I was indeed expecting to take a slow start in a new design studio that I'm particularly invested in. However, we have had to jump on a bullet train with a demand in web site design. Whether it's new upstarting companies, non-profit organizations, or existing companies, there seems to be a non-stop demand for on-line presence for businesses, and one-stop shopping when it comes to advertising/marketing/graphic design/web design.

So, even though there is a lot of hype in regards to businesses feeling the crunch, and that economic stability is a far reach from now, there's still work out there, there's still demand-you just have to sift that much harder for it, and be ready to provide services for what's in demand.

My partner in this design studio endeavor reminded me that for a lot of businesses, this is the prime time to advertise and maintain a presence (ironically)-because as all the other competitors fall from the financial burden, consumers will still be looking for those who continue to provide certain services. And if the still-thriving businesses don't make their existence known, many would simply assume that those businesses had succumbed to the broad-sweeping financial pressures.

So, to my surprise, we actually have clients looking us up and requesting web design services. Also, in the various resources we use to track down new jobs, there is an abundant number of requests for web design, and graphic design services. Albeit, I'm sure competition is steep, but work is still there.
