About Bernardsville
From The Daily Record's website on June 13, 2008.

Originally part of Bernards Township, Bernardsville became a borough in 1924. It was called Vealtown during the Revolutionary War era and became known as Bernardsville in 1840. The 12.85-square-mile borough was primarily agrarian in the 1920s and now is primarily residential. After the Civil War, many wealthy and prominent New Yorkers moved into the area, first as summer visitors, later as permanent residents. A railroad line was built through the town in 1872 and played an important role in development.
* Biggest recurring festival: Memorial Day Parade
* Famous historic site: Borough Hall, built in 1800 and formerly was known as Bunn's Mill, was operated as a grist mill, sawmill, cider mill and distillery in the mid-1800s.
