1950's Swim wear

Well it all began post world war 2 and the new found liberation that woman had mad its way in clothing and beach attire of the day. New fabrics readily available and affordable made their way into society.

Figure Hugging

Changing also was swim wear. Fashion had now developed a hugging garment that not only showed the figure but was less bulky and had terrific dry properties when in and out of the water. The 1950's also saw the swim suit model becoming mainstream in film,magazines and modeling.

Cover Up your Navel

As the 1950's rolled on it was considered proper for the navel to be covered or nearly covered. The Bikini (from 1946 had found its way into society but at a upper level and its development really didn't shine until the 1960's.The end of the fifties and new development in fabrics saw the discovery of Lycra or spandex this was to later revolutionize swim wear.
The 1950's was the decade to get out and look good.
