George, Hydrolics jerk usually when there is a leak. check all connections and the constant draft unit. A manual will help with this.

I have a 53 Golden Jubilee. My hydrolic system jerks. It is not smooth. I opened the large plug on the left under the seat and could not see any oil in the cavity, but could see what looked like gears. The dip stick on the right side about half way down the block shows oil when it is not running. Have not checked running. Should I fill the cavity under the seat up to the plug?
    Thaqnks, George

Johnnie, I use 10w40, but that works for me and the temps in my area. If you can, see the third section and order the owners manual. This will give you the suggested oils, and other fluid types for this tractor.

I am a specialty grower and have a 1953 Ford Jubilee. Until this year that tractor has been an absolute workhorse and dependable like no other machine I've owned. It's now showing it's age though and, sadly, I am having to look at replacing it, something I don't even think is possible!

My mother just paid to have our old Oliver tractor put back together again. It's been in the shed for 30 years. I can't wait to see it running again.

My brother has his own business repairing tractors, and also loves the antique tractors (especialy the Fords). I'll send him this link, I'm sure he'd love seeing your tractor. Congratulations on being a Superstar!

We used to have an old Kubota tractor but it wasn't near the beauty that your 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee Tractor. I enjoyed reading about all the work you are doing on it. Sounds like fun!

Cool! I'll never be fixing a tractor but good job for those who are able to do that kind of thing. Yeah, if you can keep the old ones going, good for you!

I don't even own a tractor and I found this entertaining, probably because I squeeze the buffalo off a nickle before I spend it! Awesome and Angel Blessed! oh yes, of course you will be added to Squid Angel Mouse Tracks
