Review: 1969 Chevrolet Corvette convertible car auction

This lens is mostly a review of this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette eBay auction, but for kicks I'll throw in some pictures and videos and other Corvette related media. This lens is intended to provide information about the Corvette while at the same time educating future eBay sellers about tips and tricks they can use to get higher bids.

This eBay auction is for a red 1969 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. These early C3 Corvettes lack the same price tags at auctions as the C2 Sting Ray and original C1 models, but they are still more desirable than the later C3 Vettes, especially those from the mid-1970's through the early 1980's.

This particular car comes with a 350 horsepower 350 cubic inch engine, which is the original engine for this car. It has a 4 speed manual transmission and 65,000 original miles, which is low considering the car is nearly 40 years old.

Now some critiques of this auction (which is not mine, and I don't know whose it is, by the way): a little bit more detail about the major parts would have been nice. It seems that most of this car is original, but any information about restorations or any major work that has been done on it would be helpful to a potential buyer. The pictures are plentiful and offer many angles, but the car should have been touched up a bit before the photoshoot. For instance, the tires should have been shined. Shiny tires can help drive a higher price, even when you're dealing with experienced collector car buyers (they'd never admit it, because they probably don't even realize it themselves). I can't remember the last time I saw such a nice car with such dirty and worn tires. $5 worth of Mothers tire shiner product and 10 minutes of the sellers time would drastically change 1st impressions of this car.

The bidding on this Corvette reached $23,600, but failed to reach the seller's reserve price.
