George Harrison And "The Concert For Bangladesh in 1971"
MiMi GrowWear recently wrote a beautiful lens about ending Poverty In America, for which she earned Lens Of The Day.
Ending poverty is a subject that George Harrison heralded. "The Concert To End Poverty In Bangladesh" at Madison Square Gardens in 1971 was the first concert to address Humanitarian needs and concerns.
And the concert raised millions of dollars for the cause.
The musicians who showed up with George Harrison to do the concert were later called "Friends Of George." They joined with him many times to create tremendous music after that.
We can say we are all friends of George, the quiet and spiritual Beatle. We always trusted his compassionate heart and his wise soul.
This lens is a tribute to George Harrison's Rock and Roll Bangladesh Concert to End Worldwide Poverty in 1971.
This concert raised the consciousness surrounding hunger and poverty in the world.
When one person starves, we all suffer. The suffering in the world is a wound we can only heal by healing our attitudes and strengthening our capacity to love.

George Harrison and His Gift To The World

Listening to the music on this lens and watching the videos has been an amazing transformative experience.
I started out thinking the lens would be a 1970's Rock 'n' Roll medley of 1970's George Harrison music. Then my awareness deepened when I remembered the great humanitarian work George Harrison did in his life time.
His work set the stage for many others to follow in the spirit of selfless giving!

- Great lens - I know that sounds really cliche but I love George Harrison's music and of course I'm a big Beatles fan. I didn't realize how much humanitarian work he had done so thanks for the insight.
