Just like a newspaper from the day you were born makes a great birthday gift idea, magazines from the year and month someone was born make good birthday gifts.

With a magazine from the year you were born, you can find out what things were like in the year you were born and see how different they are from today. Also, it's interesting to look back at old pictures, clothing styles and hair styles. Some people even like looking at vintage ads from old magazines.

Two things I noticed showed up in more than one 1982 magazine were E.T. and Joe Montana.

February 1982 Magazines

February 1982 is not all about swimsuits but it is in this month that Sports Illustrated put out its annual swimsuit edition and Inside Sports put one out as well. It seems LIFE magazine also followed suit with Christy Brinkley in a swimsuit on the cover of the February 1982 LIFE magazine.

What caught my eye when looking at February 1982 magazines was Discover magazine and the computer museum as well as replacing the heart and working without sleep. I just wonder what they said about these things back then.

For March 1982 magazines, Suzanne Somers (post Threes Company), Herschel Walker, and Elizabeth Taylor (when she was 50) show up on magazine covers.

The LIFE magazine below is kinda freaky to look at head on. I like the Mad magazine cover from April 1982 because it has a Space invaders parody on the cover. Look closely at the invaders and you'll see they aren't all from the game.

You'll find Magic Johnson on the cover of the below Sports Illustrated magazine from May 24, 1982.

The Mad Magazine from June 1982 could be interesting with Academy Awards on the cover. You might spot some drawn celebrities there. Also on covers are Joan Jett, Sylvester Stallone,Pete Townsend, Burt Reynold, and on the Starlog magazine my favorite, Conan (Arnold Schwarzenegger)
