The Nation's Summer Capital
The town often bills itself as 'The Nation's Summer Capital' due to the fact that it is a frequent summer vacation destination for Washington, D.C., residents as well as visitors from Maryland, Virginia, and in lesser numbers, Pennsylvania. Vacationers are drawn for many reasons, including the town's charm, artistic appeal, and nightlife.
Still famous for its beaches, wooden boardwalk, eclectic shops, amusements, and sporting activities, today's Rehoboth Beach is also known as one of the mid-Atlantic coast's popular gay and lesbian getaways because of the large number of gay-owned and operated businesses and because of the gay-frequented stretch of beach near Queen Street, known as Poodle Beach.
Rehoboth Beach serves as an alternative to nearby and much more developed Ocean City, Maryland. Rehoboth Beach, together with the towns of Lewes, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, South Bethany, and Fenwick Island, comprises Delaware's beach resorts and is Sussex County's most densely populated and fastest-growing area.
Reader's Digest named the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk as 'Best of America.' This celebration of the quirky, amazing and truly extraordinary was featured in the May 2006 issue. Additionally, AARP has named Rehoboth Beach as one of five dream towns as 'Best Places to Retire.'
The town has several festivals including the Sea Witch Festival, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society Independent Film Festival, and the Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival every year. [wiki]

Top 10 (+1) Best Restaurants in Rehoboth Beach, DE
My All Time Favorite: EdenThis progressive, bold and sophisticated restaurant will delight even the epicurean. Eden focuses on fresh, local and, whenever possible, organic ingredients to create an innovative menu drawn from the nuances of several cuisines.
Eden offers a full bar and an extensive Wine Spectator Award Winning Wine List featuring 40 wines by the glass. Great for large parties, private events or intimate, romantic dinners, the beautifully decorated dining room is both elegant and welcoming.
Personal recommendation: Grilled Caesar Salad
23 Baltimore Avenue * Rehoboth Beach * 302.227.3330
Sushi: The Cultured Pearl Restaurant & Sushi BarSince 1993 The Cultured Pearl has been responsible for bringing the art of sushi into the lives of many. Susan Townley Wood, the designer and proprietor, has created an atmosphere that is unique in the restaurant industry. From the Pearl's long-term staff to its loyal customer base the energy and passion is evident.
The food will never disappoint. Created and prepared by Susan's husband Robert along with many of the Eastern Shore's top chefs.
The decorating is sure to please. Always respecting traditional Japanese architecture, the environment is full with bamboo, flowing water, Koi and live birds. The Pearl boasts a 15,000 gallon rooftop "lake" that is home to many aquatic species and hosts diners nightly in the raised gazebos. Made from a single black walnut tree the magnificently crafted sushi bar and drinking bar tops together measure nearly 50 feet.
Personal recommendation: Maryland Maki
301 Rehoboth Avenue * Rehoboth Beach * 302.227.8493
Brewings & Eats: Dogfish HeadEver since the summer of 1995, Dogfish has been brewing, cooking, selling and talking everything beer. It's their pasttime, passion, life. Since the beginning, they have always wanted to bring original beer, great food and local music to the Rehoboth Beach area.
After a couple of years they couldn't keep up with the demands of the beer, food and entertainment. They built a bigger and better brewhouse (in Rehoboth Beach, DE - on the Avenue) and that's where Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats is housed. There is also a distillery in the upstairs of the Rehoboth Brewhouse to make vodka, rum and gin.
Personal recommendation: 60 Minute IPA

Brunch: The Back Porch CafeThe Back Porch's daring approach to beach dining, combined with its outdoor deck - an idea unique for its time - proved to be a hit with vacationers looking for a hip alternative to the usual beach eatery. The Back Porch soon expanded within the funky old Hotel Marvel at 21 Rehoboth Ave., taking over adjacent shops, acquiring a liquor license and - by virtue of the owners' winters in Key West - developing the elegantly casual island ambience it still has as it enters its 28th season.

Have you been to Rehoboth?
I've been going with my husband and his family for 18 years - as long as I've known him. His family has been going since he was a baby.
We stay at One Virginia Avenue Condominiums - no need to drive anywhere all week, except to the outlet shopping - even then, you could take The Jolly Trolley...
Oh yeah, check out the Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Boardwalk WebCam and Rehoboth Beach, DE web Directory, too.
