1 "Cuneo The Breakfast Bear and Friends

Ranked #33,689 in Pets & Animals, #1,290,988 overall

1 Told By Cuneo and Friends

The sun awakens from a long night. It starts stretching it's rays into the murkey, early morning air.

Cuneo The Breakfast Bear, is also awake and starts searching for something to fill his grumbling belly.

He takes his long morning stroll down the campground's winding road, that seems to take forever. Cuneo and his rumbling stomach, does this every morning, but it never seems to get shorter.

Stopping in his tracks, when noticing a new object. He is overwhelm by the smells of all those delicious breakfast aromas. He can't stop sniffing the wonderful air, trying not to really notice that big thing, right in his path.

Suddenly his eyes are drawn to the flashes streaming out in pluses, from that big road block object, and sounds of yelling and growling.

Quite taken back, Cuneo decides to turn and wanders back up the hill, the way he just walked down.

Further up, the road over looks another bunch of such road blocks, circling more apple and pear trees. Again, so many mouth watering smells floating up from those other trees below.

Having regrets for all the apple and pear trees he missed out on before, Cuneo sees many road blocks are nestled right in the middle of his other breakfast trees. All those wonderful combine smells, that should be in his grumbling stomach.

Pausing a number of times, as he wanders back up the road, trying to figure a way to capture those radiating smells, for his stomach without confronting those road blocks again..

Halfway up the road, was his favorite, huge berry patch, that nestles all alone, at the bottom of the other side of the hill.

Cuneo strolled down to those great tasting berries and settles in for a long morning of filling his stomach with sweet, juicy berries.

A few hours later, a big commotion came from a distance, 10 feet or so away from Cuneo. It did not bother him, at first. He had heard these familiar noises before.

Laying back in his far away berry heaven. Floating on the bushes, with his eyes closed and enjoying every mouth full.

Even when a loud horn cut through the air, blasting, he still could not be disturbed. He just rolled a little to one side, while chewing the big mouth full of ripe, sweet berries. Stopping his chewing when the horn was joined by a loud growling sound, for just a moment, trying to sense if it was coming closer.. or if danger was near.

Finally the growling machine was joined by a high pitch sound, coming from a small 4 legged, furry animal, that was less than bite size. It was strung to a tall, 2 legged thing, that was less than a meal. They had come out of a new road block thing. The very loud noises finally got within 3 feet to Cuneo and was joined by a huge black thing, that had the biggest paws, that Rolled!

That was enough to bring Cuneo out of his berry heaven. He scrambled up from his awkward position, on his back, trying to find all of his 4 paws and stumbled up the hill without looking back.

That big black thing, with rolling paws, was many times bigger than Cuneo and felt he was no match for this thing. But by past experiences, those big things needed more sleep than anything he had seen before!

Cuneo could just wait until it went back to sleep, then his berry heaven would be his, again! But until then, he decided to go back into the thick forest, for now. Then maybe later, he would decide, if it was time to look elsewhere. Where there is no loud horns or big growling monster machines with big Rolling paws, or to venture back to his favorite place for breakfast.

For now, Cuneo rambles back into the deep wooded forest, with way less than a full stomach.

With all that exercising of chewing of those heavenly, juicy, sweet berries and the new loud things that were protecting his apple and pear trees from him, he decided to call it a day. It was "Nap Time."

A nap was well earned. Cuneo decided to wander his way back to a quite place. The forest floor was soft with leaves, plants and more. The sounds were familiar there and the sun rarely made it to the floor. He could dream of all the mouth watering things.

Chapter One Camp Host Version

Up in the Humboldt Redwoods in CA, this small but so quaint horse campground, sounds like heaven to us.
The first morning, we rose with the sun. Pulled up the blinds in our trailer, not expecting to see much. We were at the bottom of a twisty road, that blossom into a campground.
To our surprise, here comes a huge bear down the road toward us. He stopped about 20 feet from our trailer, where we stared in disbelief! We suddenly jerked to the realization what we were looking at. In all our camping experience together, we never have seen a "live bear" in the wild.
We grabbed every camera we had in our small trailer and started taking pictures through the back window.
Slowly we opened the door and stepped on the top step and took more pictures. Standing on that step, ready to run back in the trailer for safety.
With all the flashing going on, and the sounds we could not hold back from our amazement, the big bear decided to go back up the road, out of our view.
A few hours later, some girls knocked at our door. They were all excited about a bear in their campsite, that would not leave. Being the Camp Host, I told them to yell and honk their truck horn and the bear should go.
The girls came back, a few minutes later. The bear still would not move! He was laying on his back, in the berry patch, at the back of their campsite. Even with all the noises they made, he would not even look at them!
They also proceeded to tell us they had taken 1/2 a bag of marshmellows and threw them at a campsite, at the other end of the campground. Saying they were trying to lead the bear down, away from them.
No matter how many rules, papers we give people, telling them NOT to feed the animals, in these instances, they apparently leave their brains at home so they won't wear them out or damage them, and continue to make deadly errors!
I first went and picked up all those delicious smelling marshmallows. I asked them where is the other half of the marshmellow bag? Quickly they replied "In Our Tent!"
I told the girls to get their truck, easing slowly toward the bear, at the same time, honking the horn and revving the engine. I joined the noise and waved my arms and yelled!
When the truck got about a few feet from the bear, he rolled over, like a big seal on the beach and found his feet. Digging in with his paws to the bushes and ground, making big clogs of dirt, leaves amd branches, flying from his wake, as he found his traction and went back into the forest to disappear.
