Is it safe to download free audio books?
Are Free Downloadable Audio Books OK?
The answer is really yes and no. It depends very much from yourself!
As for all MP3 downloads, there are safe sites that offer premium content, even some of it for free. No problems, no sweat, just sweet free audio books. And then there are other sites, that are tying to trick the consumers into downloading something for free to load them a program on the hard disk that will cause problems. This is true for all downloads.
Now how to recognize the good ones from the bad ones? I usually check first if the site has contact details etc, a safety certificate and then I google for the domain name and see what else they offer. If a site offers just audio books and seems OK, then I go for it!
