1Password Review -- Mac Password Manager Software for Apple Mac OSX

As a web designer and developer, I know it just isn't safe to use only one password for every site that you need to login to. What if only one of those sites becomes hacked and your password is used to compromise other websites that you might visit. Would you want to take that risk? I don't and I've seen the backend of many web sites built by beginning programmers that do not store user passwords securely. 1Password ensures that you easily generate a new password for each site where you need a login.

So you have an Iphone and want to sync with 1Password. 1Password will generate a special bookmark item in Safari to transfer your information to the iPhone. The "1Password" bookmark will contain an encrypted copy of your data.

You can then enter the access code that will be used for encryption. You can make it the same as your master password or choose a special iPhone-friendly password.

my1Password is a web based service that will allow you to sync with your 1Password software. With my1Password, you'll be able to login to your web based my1Password service and access your passwords from anywhere you can access the internet.

Using my1Password is free and provides better synchronization than .mac. Sometimes the .mac service doesn't sync your password correctly so the my1Password service fixes all that.

What's really cool about my1Password is that all your password information stored on the my1Password service is fully encrypted so nobody, not even the administrators of the my1Password service will have access to your information. After you login to the my1Password service, you will need to enter a your password encryption key so only you will have access to all your information.

my1Password is still in Beta so it's only available by invitation only but will be available in the not to distant future.
