His full name is Eldrick "Tiger" Woods, and he was born December 30, 1975
Woods practicing before 2004 Ryder Cup at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
When Tiger Woods first joined the professional tour in 1996, his long drives had a large impact on the world of golf. He used True Temper Dynamic Gold steel-shafted clubs and smaller steel clubheads that promoted accuracy over distance. Other golfers started to used different equipment and caught up tp his excellent lengths. Phil Mickelson made a joke in 2003 about Woods using "inferior equipment", which did not sit well with Nike, Titleist or Woods.
In 2004, Tiger Woods upgraded his golf equipment to a larger clubhead and graphite shaft. Using his great clubhead speed, this upgrade made him once again one of the Tour's lengthier players off the tee.
In Search of Tiger - Tiger Woods Biography Audio Book
Unique among books about Tiger Woods for the amount of access its author had to Tiger himself.
This is a great book about golf and Tiger Woods. In Search of Tiger Woods is an exceptional audio book.Tom Callahan has written the seminal book on golfing great Tiger Woods.
Tiger Woods, who has gone out of his way to protect his privacy, has never allowed himself to get close enough to a writer to be properly examined on the page. Callahan, commonly regarded as one of the best all-round sports writers in the country, has followed Tiger around the world of golf for more than seven years, enjoying a certain access to the man and his family. He even went so far as to travel to Vietnam to learn the fate of the South Vietnamese soldier who was Earl Wood's best friend during the war - and his son's namesake.
Tiger is twenty years old when the book opens and twenty-seven when it closes. During those years, Callahan covered Woods at all the Majors, including the Masters, the U.S. Open, and the British Open, culminating in Tiger's heart-stopping race to make history by clinching the string of Majors affectionately nicknamed the Tiger Slam.
Along the way, Tom Callahan hears from everyone who is anyone in the world of Tiger Woods, including Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, David Duval, Butch Harmon, Ernie Els, and, of course, Tiger's rather ubiquitous mother and father.
As much as we learn about Tiger - how he sees himself in relation to the courses he plays on and the players he has learned from and competed with - we also enjoy a bird's-eye view of golf as it is now with Tiger on the scene, and as it was for centuries before.

Tiger Woods Carreer - The Start as Professional Golfer
Tiger Woods became a professional golfer in August 1996. He signed endorsement deals worth $40 million from Nike and $20 million from Titleist. He played his first round of professional golf at the Greater Milwaukee Open, tying for 60th place, but then he won two events in the next three months to qualify for the Tour Championship. For his efforts, Woods was named Sports Illustrated's' 1996 Sportsman of the Year and PGA Rookie of the Year.
He began his tradition of wearing a red shirt during the final round of tournaments, a link to his college days at Stanford and a color he believes symbolizes aggression and assertiveness.
In April 1997, Woods won his first golf major, The Masters, by a record margin of 12 strokes, becoming the youngest Masters winner and the first winner of African or Asian descent. He set a total of 20 Masters records and tied 6 others. He won another three PGA Tour events that year, and on June 15, 1997, in only his 42nd week as a professional, rose to number one in the Official World Golf Rankings, the fastest ever ascent to world No. 1.He was named PGA Player of the Year, the first golfer to win the award the year following his rookie season.
Then Tiger Woods' form faded in the second half of 1997, and in 1998 he only won one PGA Tour event. Woods answered critics of his "slump" and what seemed to be wavering form by maintaining he was undergoing extensive swing changes with his golf swing coach, Butch Harmon, and was hoping to do better in the future.
