2 beta hydroxy acid is a form of salicylic acid. Salicylic acid used to treat warts, psoriasis, calluses and of course, acne. 2 beta hydroxy acid acts a comedolytic agent and a keratolytic agent on your skin.

2 Beta Hydroxy Acid and Acne
Acne is caused by dead skin at hair follicles and sebaceous glands. These skin cells group together and effectively plug up the follicle and the sebaceous gland. Whiteheads are when the comedo blockage has completely closed the pore. Blackheads are when the the pore is still partially open and concentration of melanin causes the dark coloring. A pustule is a later stage of the clogged pore. This occurs when the immune system responds at the skin surface with white blood cells. The common name for such an occurance is pimple or zit.Salicylic acids penetrate deep into the follicle and remove the comedomal clogging. The result is open pores and reduced acne breakouts.
2 Beta Hydroxy Acid Wash
An acne wash made from 2% beta hydroxy acid offers a deep clean without oils. Such a wash goes to the source of acne problems, the pores to clear up and prevent pimples and whiteheads.
