However, there is some hope in the event that your pet does decide to use your shag rug as a makeshift toilet, and the following is intended to make the clean-up much less tedious and time consuming.

Use a UV Light to Spot the Urine

If your carpet is dark colored, then it will be impossible for you to see where exactly your pet has urinated on the carpet, which in turn makes it very difficult for you to proactively remove it effectively. Using a UV ray light is ideal for pinpointing the precise location of the urine, and will allow you to then spray the area.

In order to actually use a UV ray light, you will need to make sure that you turn off all the lights otherwise the UV light will not display at all.

Use a Pet Odor Eliminator Product

There are a number of highly effective, specialized products specifically designed to remove and eliminate any trace of dog urine, and they are well worth the money. Using a chemical reaction known as oxidization, these products will infuse the urine with a massive amount of oxygen.

The end result of this is that the molecules that form the urine are forcibly severed from one another which makes it much easier for the rug owner to then step in and finish the job.

However, there is no need to do so, because these pet odor eliminator products adopt a two pronged approach. First they oxidize the urine, thereby making it easier for each of the individual molecules still remaining to be neutralized. Then, the odor eliminator of the product steps in and neutralizes the smell completely.
