2008 Chevy Avalanche Introduction

The Chevrolet Avalanche is a four-door, five or six passenger sport utility truck sharing GM's long-wheelbase chassis used on the Chevrolet Suburban and Cadillac Escalade EXT. Unlike the typical pickup truck, the open bed of the Avalanche opens to the back seat area via a folding panel (marketed as a 'midgate') and removable rear window. A series of three removable panels form a watertight top for the cargo bed. Additional storage is provided behind each wheelwell, accessed by locking flip-top panels and usable as self-draining ice chests.

The name Avalanche derives from the dangerous and sudden collapse of mountain snowpacks known as the avalanche.

2008 Chevy Avalanche FAQ

Question: Where can i find suicide doors for a 2008 chevrolet avalanche?

Answer: You can look in some custom car magazines and buy a kit. However, if you don't know how to do bodywork and customizing, I would leave it to a professional. Even though most kits are designed for specific vehicles and pretty complete, if you don't know what you are doing, you can run into some serious problems. Get the magazines, do some homework, and decide if it is something you want to tackle. There are plenty of shops in Vegas that can do this for you.

Question: How can i get better gas mileage/hp out of my truck?
It's a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche 5.3 Liter V8. I love the truck even though i only bought it because i needed something to haul stuff around in and didn't think an SUV would work for what i needed, and it has the engine that shuts down 4 cylinders while cruising. I think it's called active fuel management so gas mileage isn't horrible, but i wonder what i could do to make it better while getting better horsepower as well. Any ideas? Brands and prices included please?

Answer: I think it's can help you to get better gas mileage in your truck. I highly recommend you to use product called water4gas, It's very high performance for trucks.

Question: Where do I find accessories and kit for a 2008 Chevy Avalanche?
I have a new 2008 Chevy Avalanche and I want to chrome it out a little. I want the mirror, handles, gas tank door, etc. I also want the bed to be the same color as the truck ( I don't like the black rubber sole look). I can't seem to find packages to by the chrome sets for a 2008, just 2007 and 2006.

Also, i need a cargo kit and something to help me get into the bed ( a ladder or something)

Answer: Check www.stylintrucks.com They should have some of the stuff you are looking for. Also, JCWhitney, Jegs, Summit Racing may also have some stuff. For sure, the Chevy dealership will have stuff, but it is more likely to be more expensive.

Question: How do I remove steering wheel for a 2008 chevy avalanche?
I need to remove the steering wheel for my 2008 chevy avalanche, if anyone has removed one could you please give me detailed instructions on how to remove it

Answer: I wouldn't do that unless you've done it before. The airbags are really expensive to replace and one wrong move and... BOOM!!! Good luck.

Question: 2008 Chevy Avalanche fog light bulb size?
I want to change the fog lights on my 2008 Chevy Avalanche to HID's and need to know the size of the bulb... I called a nearby dealership but they could not help me. Does anyone know the size? Thanks!

Answer: Maybe this will help!

Question: Question about putting a stereo system in my 2008 chevy avalanche...?
I want the back seat to still be able to fold flat, so i dunno where i would put a speaker and an amp or whatever. I dunno crap about stereos as you can prolly tell. Is there anywhere else i could put some subs and an amp, and what type/brand do you recommend?

Answer: All you need to know is here http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com

Question: Are the 2007/2008 Z71 Avalanche's good off road?
I know it's not meant for off road use but either is my z71 Suburban. My Burban is better in sand and mud than my 2006 Duramax.... Sad but true.. Anyways, I drive in the sand often and I'm wondering if the weight distribution is good enough that I'll get traction in the rear end. Thanks!

Answer: The new body style Avalanches with the Z71 package are pretty capiable offroaders. Stiffer shocks, offroad tires, skidplates, and a auto locking rear diff really help. If you want to learn more about anything Fullsize Chevy, GMC, Cadillac, or Hummer visit www.fullsizechevy.com

Question: If I wanted to put like a 6 or 7 inch lift on my 2008 Chevy Avalanche...?
About how much would it cost and what would i have to do/buy?

Answer: What are you going to do with a new truck? take it offroad, scratch it beat it, get it dirty?

NO, your going to lift it, put shiny rims on it, and drive it to the mall and show it off.

If you really want a lift, start looking for suspension lift kits, there are many brands out there, (fabtech, tuffcountry, superlift, pro comp) for your truck and start talkin to mechanics who have put lifts on before, If you don't plan to do it yourself.
