2008 Chevy HHR Introduction

The Chevrolet HHR (for Heritage High Roof) is a small retro-styled compact station wagon launched by the Chevrolet division of American automaker General Motors at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show as a 2006 model. Designed to slot below the Equinox, it shares the GM Delta platform with the Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, Saturn Ion, and Saturn Astra. In Mexico, it's sold alongside its predecessor, the Opel-sourced Chevrolet Zafira compact MPV.

The vehicle's design is inspired by the mid-1940s Chevrolet cars and trucks, specifically the 1949 Chevrolet Suburban, with large, square fender flares and a hemispherical grille. The design of the HHR has been credited to Bryan Nesbitt who was a former designer at Chrysler where he was the lead designer of the Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Nesbitt was recruited by GM to join its design staff and served for a time as the chief designer of the Chevrolet brand. The HHR has a large cargo-carrying capacity for a car of its size with 57.7 cubic feet in the passenger version and 62.7 cubic feet in the panel. It has a flat-load floor and fold-flat front passenger seat. For the 2007 model year, it's available in four trim levels; LS, LT, 2LT, and Special Edition. A panel van variant was also made available in 2007 for only the LT trim and became available on all trim levels in 2008.

2008 Chevy HHR FAQ

Question: What is the wheel bolt pattern of a 2007-2008 Chevrolet HHR?
I would like to purchase a set of after-market wheels for my new HHR, but do not know the wheel bolt pattern.

Answer: Stop at any tire shop and they will tell you

Question: Can you fit two 26' mountain bikes in a 2008 chevy HHR?
can u?

Answer: yes you can.

Question: Why does the steering wheel lock when trying to turn ignition key in 2008 HHR?
Inserted ignition key and tried to start the HHR; key would not turn, wheel would move only 1/4 inch either way. Made sure car was in PARK,(unable to move shifter to NEUTRAL), tried turning wheel while turning ignition key, no luck starting vehicle.I have been using the same key each and every time I drive the car. The only observation I have made the last 6 times, is that when I get out of the vehicle and touch the driver side door, I get a jolt of static electricity. Tow truck on the way to take it to dealer, who, by the way, could not tell me what caused the problem. Car still under warranty, but I do not want to be groomed for the 'Blue Plate Special', and have the dealer tell me it was 'operator' error. I have only been driving cars for 40 years, auto and manual. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks for taking the time to read about my problem.

Answer: Most of these type of problems start at the dealers when they have poorly trained pre delivery people doing there PDI inspections. The factory for some years now have had major problems at the dealer level not having trained people that have the knowledge and skill to find and fix these type of problems before you the customer buy the car or truck from innovatory. The fact is the factory pays big bucks to have trained pros do there new car inspections. The dealers keep this money and hires people that know little or nothing about what there doing. As long as the dealers keep doing this it will cause owners greef with there new cars.Best of luck with your HHR.

Question: Does enyone know if the HHR 2008 has power, how is the power , afaird of it because it is a 4 cyclander.?

Answer: I use a lot of HHR's as rentals on Los Angeles freeways, and I think the motor has decent power and pickup for a 4 cylinder. I don't notice much difference between the base motor in the LS and the upgraded engine in the LT because most of the power increase is in higher RPM's the automatic transmission rarely uses. I like the HHR enough to consider it a good choice among 4 cylinder cars, and its interior is useful for carrying luggage and other items with decent seats and a decent stereo.

If you have the budget and want to spend more money, the new HHR SS has a turbo four in it that's very quick, but I think the base Ecotec 4 cylinder is a good choice and gets good mileage. The HHR is a far better car than the now-discontinued Chrysler PT Cruiser, which was based on the old Neon chassis, and was not made by GM.

Question: Will 2007 hhr air bag fit 2008 hhr?

Answer: I am not qualified to answer that question..but i would say yes since there was no major redesign of that vehicle for 2008.

Question: What is the timing marks for 2008 chevy hhr?

Answer: They use different colored links on the chain to match to the sprockets. You start with the intake side balancer shaft sprocket and work clockwise matching the colored links as you go.

Question: 2008 Chevy HHR SS?
Does anybody know what the approximate price would be on these? I know they are not out yet but I would think at least some people know.

Answer: Magazines have said it will be under $25k. Possibly as low as $22k.
For 260hp, that could be a performance bargain....
