2008 ford ranger

Question: Does my 2008 ford ranger thunder diesel need to be broken in for it to get good mpg?
just bought a new 2008 ford ranger 2.5 tdci 4x4 crew cab diesel and its giving me like 22mpg. Do i need to break it in to get the mpg as ford suggests??

Answer: If it`s new, it won`t reach normal fuel and oil consumption figures until the engine has done approx. 3k miles and the ambient teperature has warmed up a bit.

Question: What is your opinion of the 2007/2008 Ford Ranger?
Im looking to buy a new Ford Ranger FX4 and was looking for some input from owners of this vehicle or similar vehicles.

Handling?
Reliability?
Off road capability?
Bad weather Capabilities (rain,snow...)?

Answer: I have an '03 XLT 4X4 supercab. I LOVE IT. 65K
I own a shop and the only thing it has had in 4 years is, fan belt tires oil changes, wipers, Uh that's about it. OH ya stupid me forgot to check the clutch fluid and I trashed the slave cylinder when the hose cracked, just one of those things. part was 40 bucks and 4 hours to R&R the transmission

Handling? It's a truck! but it has great turning radius it doesn't sway like some trucks when you drive over a bumpy road
Reliability? Like I said
Off road capability? Fine
Bad weather Capabilities (rain,snow...)? as any P/U it is loose in the rear but not bad. a little weight in the winter and I am fine. I did put Bridgestone REVO's on it and the traction is great.
Look it up I believe the ranger is STILL the best selling truck in its class

Question: 2008 Jeep Liberty or 2008 Ford Ranger, which should I buy?
Both are great vehicles and cost about the same,which one would you buy and why. I am aware that one is a suv and the other a pick-up truck.

Answer: My first question would be, is the Liberty a 4 X 4? Secondly, how are you going to use the vehicle? If you are a tradesman and need to haul stuff for the job or side jobs, I would buy the Ranger. If not and the Liberty is not a 4 X 4, I would buy the Ranger because the pickup will have a greater resale than the non 4 X 4 Liberty. If the Liberty is a 4 X 4, then drive them both and buy the one you like the best. Be sure to drive them under the same road conditions and on the same day. After the test drive you will know. Trust yourself and be happy!

Question: Fuel milage for a 2008 ford ranger 4x4?
how bad is the gas milage on this? i know what the 3.0L is, but comepared to that is it worth getting the 4L?

Answer: for a 2008 ford ranger 4x4 6cyl, 3L, MANUAL would be 15(city) and 20(hwy)
AUTOMATIC would b 14(city) and 19(hwy)

for a 2008 ford ranger 4x4 6cyl, 4L, MANUAL would be 15(city) and 19(hwy)
AUTOMATIC would be 14(city) and 17(hwy)

i would get the 4L MANUAL.

Question: Is there anyone out there that has any Step Bars for a 2001-2008 Ford Ranger?(Please read details)?
Is there anyone out there that has any used factory chrome Step Bars for a 2001-2008 Ford Ranger for sale or know where I might be able to buy some? I already checked with two big salvage yards in my area and they didn't have any. The after market Westin Step Bars are nice but they have a bend in them like all the rest. I like the straight look of the factory bars. And, I was also wondering, are the holes already drilled in the frame for the step bars or do you have to drill your own? My truck is a 2004 2WD XLT.

Answer: Not sure where you can get any. I put some step bars on my 06 F150 and yes the holes are already there. I would buy new to make sure you get all the hardware you need along with the diagram as to where the holes are. Mine were covered up my some black tape-like stuff. By the way the underside of the truck is black. I would have never known they were there. Very very easy and fast to install if you get them..

Question: Gas mileage on a 2008 ford ranger fx4?
is there anything that i could buy to get better than 14 mpg in the city in a ranger fx4 other that an air intake and exhaust?

Answer: Tarnal cover would create less drag resistance,driving habits,not flooring it every chance you get.With it being a 08 how long have you had the car and how many miles is on it.With newer cars they need to break in, with putting more miles on it.

Which one of these would you recommend, pros/cons, experiences, etc. I'll use the pickup for daily commuting between work and home, as well as for some long trips at least twice a month. At this moment I will not use it for towing but I may carry some loads on the pickup bed.

Answer: Neither..............Cramped interior, choppy ride, sub-par handling and braking, lacks modern-day safety and convenience features.

is it true that the ford company will quit making the for rangers in 2008.ben hearing alot of talk going around about it. i hate to see them go.

Answer: they are replacing it in late 2007. they are jumping on the "foreign bandwagon". Nissan revamped all their trucked (ie: tundra, frontier) by making them bigger. "The new "ranger" will be taller, wider, with a slightly bigger engine and will don a new, more rugid name". I read that in a motorworks magazine a couple months ago.
