Hats off to the Boston Celtics

The 2008 Boston Celtics returned the francise to glory once again with heart and passion displayed by teh entire team. They did what no Celtics team had done in 22 years and that was win it all after only winning 24 games the previous year. This is my salute to my hometown Celtics !

The Doc is in

Doc Rivers took this team through some hard times and the team stuck with him as he and Exec Danny Ainge turned the ship around and brought the C's back to glory with an amazing 2007-2008 season that ended with champagne flowing. All of the credit and praise should go to the leader of these Celtics Doc Rivers.

Paul Pierce never quits

Kevin Garnett

Kevin Maurice Garnett (born May 19, 1976 in Mauldin, South Carolina) is an American professional basketball player for the NBA's Boston Celtics. The , power forward[http://espn.go.com/classic/biography/s/Garnett_Kevin.html 'Da Kid' progressed quickly]. After graduating from Farragut Career Academy, he was the fifth player drafted in 1995. He became the first NBA player drafted directly out of high school in 20 years. His accomplishments include being voted Most Valuable Player of the 2003-04 season, NBA Defensive Player of the Year of the 2007-08 season, being named to eleven All-Star teams and being named to eight All-NBA and All-Defensive Teams. He is also the all-time leader in NBA seasons played with averages of at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.

Amazing !

Not only did Boston's big three lead the Celtics to the greatest one-season turnaround in NBA history, from 24 victories the previous year to 66 in 2008, but they culminated it with the team's 17th NBA title.

"This is the reason we came here, this is the reason we all got together," Garnett said following Boston's 131-92 series-clinching win over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 6 of the NBA Finals Tuesday night. "That moment right there solidified the reason why."

The 32-year-old Garnett, who played his first 12 seasons in Minnesota before being traded to Boston last July 31, likened his winning the championship to a child in school overcoming odds of another kind.

"It's like that bully that you go to school (with) every day," Garnett said. "You know you have to see him as soon as you walk through that front door. He's sitting there with his feet up, waiting on you, pats your pockets and messes with you. One day you say to yourself, 'you know what it's going to stop today.' It's like getting rid of the bully. I knocked his (expletive) out. That's what it feels like."

The Celtics not only KOed the Lakers, but did it in dominating fashion, hearkening back to the last Celtics championship 22 years ago when Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish captured the team's last championship.

"There's so much motivation coming in here every day with the banners on the wall, seeing ex-players come in and watch you practice," Garnett said. "It's the most responsibility putting this jersey on that I really don't think you guys (media) understand how much responsibility it is to come in here and carry this tradition...Celtic pride."

Paul Pierce

Paul Anthony Pierce (born October 13, 1977 in Oakland, California), nicknamed The Truth,Pierce stars in his moment of Truth - The Boston Globe is an American professional basketball player for the Boston Celtics of the NBA. He earned First Team All-America honors in his junior year at Kansas, and has been a starter every season since being selected by the Celtics with the 10th overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft. He is a 6-time All-Star and led Boston to an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2002 and the 2008 championship. He was named the 2008 NBA Finals MVP in his first trip to the NBA Finals.

Big Time Champs

Although the Celtics are star studded with their "Big Three" of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen they played tonight as they did all season long and throughout these playoffs; defense first, and unselfishly share the ball on offense. Sharing the rock for the Celtics has become contagious. Their ball movement tonight was so strong at times it looked like they were playing a game of hot potato. It bordered on excessive actually on a few possessions. These guys are so close to the title they can taste it. I don't recall seeing a team this good defensively ever, but the scariest part about that is they can score too. There are lots of great defensive teams we have seen in the last decade such as the Spurs and Pistons, but both of which often have scoring droughts and lack a big scoring punch in crunch time. Not the C's.

Boston Celtics vs. Houston Rockets - Halftime Reaction
I feel good about this Celtics team. They came together like a gang tonight. I don't know what House said to McGrady when he came to Walker's aid, but I'd bet almost anything it included "motha" and a word that rhymes with trucker. ...
Preseason Game 3: Boston Celtics vs. Houston Rockets Recap
One of the bigger stories in Boston's preseason has to be the 16 players the Celtics have on the roster right now. Who will get voted off the island? Barring a trade or Brian Scalabrine falling out of favor, Darius Miles and Sam Cassell ...
Preseason Game 3: Boston Celtics vs. Houston Rockets Open Game Thread
Tony Allen - I'm incredibly biased and tend to overvalue Celtics. Still, I believe that Allen, if physically and mentally on track, could make a sizable contribution to the C's this season. I'm looking for consistency from the former ...
Know Your Enemy: The Boston Celtics
The rivalry with the Celtics is back. All the way back. I grew up despising all things Celtics (you had to respect Bird/McHale/Parish, but you didn't have to like them, and I've always just wanted to punch Danny Ainge). ...

Thank You Celtics for an Unforgettable Season !
