I don't think the Lions will go offense on the first three picks considering their defense gave up the 2nd most points in NFL history. I can see the first two picks but they will move Backus to guard if they select a tackle at 20. In this scenario the 33 pick would be Laurinaitis filling a big need considering they don't have a MLB on their roster.

I'm surprised you have the Bears selecting a free safety and not a receiver. While its true that receivers are very iffy picks, I don't think their next strongest need is another safety. They need to start thinking of replacements for Kreutz and Urlacher. However I wouldn't be surprised to see Angelo waste a pick on a safety.

I like both st and 2nd rd picks you have fot the Ravens. They take wr DHB for the 1st real deep threat since Michael Jackson, when they came to B-More from CLeveland. And then the o-line is addressed. They definaely need to protect the franchise QB. Nice picks.

i agree with rich on the duke robinson thing . he will be long gone before the bears pick. look for herman johnson out of lsu there.
  • Steve Mar 15, 2009 @ 10:04 am | delete
The Bengals really need help on offense far more than at DT.They picked up Pat Sims last year in the 2nd rnd and he played very good.If Jason Smith and Monroe are gone,I can see them taking Crabtree to give Palmer another weapon or trading down and grabbing A.Smith or Oher later in the first rnd. They just signed Domato Petko (Their other DT) to a big contract extension last year. They dont need another DT no matter how good Raji looked to them at the Senior Bowl.

Duke Robinson will be long gone before Chicago picks in the second. Seattle,s need to replace GM Ruskell's biggest non-signing blunder of letting Hutchinson- their greatest guard ever go-will be Duke Robinson of Oklahoma with the 37th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.

I actually like your Pats picks for round 2, with the possible exception of Barwin at 58. The OL Unger is terrific and super versatile, which BB requires across the line. I wouldn't be surprised to see him taken here instead.

no way falcons go OG here

Brandon Pettigrew won't fall to the second round

they don't have to graft up, besides it costs more money to draft a first rounder. Thru free agency and there picks the pats are sitting pretty good.

I don't see Crabtree falling past the Bengals. With TJ Whosyourmama signing with the Seahawks and Chad Ochocinco being a major question mark for the seasons to come, Crabtree is just too good of a talent to let slip past them. I know they have huge needs on the line, but as good as Carson Palmer is, he's going to need somebody to throw to.

I agree that seems a bit late for him but I am hoping the Pats still get him. I would expect him at the #34 slot to the Pats.

the pats have 3 second round picks? Trade up to the first round?
  • Bernie Mar 1, 2009 @ 3:36 pm | delete
You may want to rethink Connor Barwin. Look at his Senior season production as a first year DE. His combine numbers were off the charts for a guy his size. Better than Curry as a Linebacker and far better than Orakpo as a DE or OLB in a 3-4. He also plays TE and is an exceptional special teams player. He'll never make it past the Packers at #41 although I wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots grabbed him in round 1. You may have him going to the right team but maybe in the wrong round.

I think [pray is more like it] that the Lions go defence. I would like to see the following:
    A. Curry - LB at #1, P. Jerry - DT at #20, and W. Beatty -OT at #33.
If it did not cost them that much, moving up from #20 to get BJ Raji - DT would be the absolute best case. However, Raji appears to be going in the top ten based on most mocks I have seen. Detroit should not move up that far.
  • joe D Feb 24, 2009 @ 10:45 am | delete
yes as Lions fan I sure hope you are wrong on there picks. There where allot weaker on the d side of the ball. Two of those first 3 picks need top be defense one of them being a line backer

Bomar is not from Grand Prairie, Ok. try Grand Prairie, Tx.

The Vikings will not be looking for a WR until atleast round 5 in this years draft.

I'm thinking the best drafting order for the Vikings if possible and reasonable would be...
    RT
    C
    RG
    LT
    CB
    WR
    DT

AP is losing birk, but other than that the Vikings only really have 1 good offensive lineman in Hutchinson. McKinnie might be the most overrated offensive lineman in the game.
  • AJ Feb 20, 2009 @ 4:22 pm | delete
As much as I like the sound of Stafford, Britton, and Robinson with the first three picks, you have to remember the Lions had one of the worst defenses of all time. I would hope they pick at least one defensive player with picks 20 and 33.
  • VikingsFan Feb 20, 2009 @ 9:02 am | delete
Horrible Vikings picks, Harvin's 40 time will get him overrated but the Vikings won't be the team to pick him. You say they have no weapons well you obviously rarely watch them then. Bernard Berrian is their weapon and a solid WR. He is their primary deep threat and they don't need another deep threat like Harv. Then in round 2 you got them taking a TE, no way. Shiancoe actually had a good year and was another weapon for Tarvaris you claimed they didn't have. Shiancoe had trouble with drops his first year with the team but last season was money and caught alot of touchdowns.

Vikings will go BPA but if you want positions of need try OT (RT cook is garbage), CB (need a nickel starter and future replacement for winfield), or LB (for special teams coverage and depth) all would be better selections. If you want to go WR in round 1. Go with a guy like Hakeem Nicks. Anyone other then Harvin who is undersized and only a deep threat.

I dont know about Hood going to the Falcons. I think that we have a UT already in Jonathon Babainuex. I do think we need a DE, I like Ayers in the 2nd for DE help.

Be on the watch for Mark Parson CB Ohio stock to move up. Deion Sanders thinks he is the best CB in class and is going to talk about him at combine.
  • mike Feb 17, 2009 @ 9:04 pm | delete
the bengals should forget the draft resign TJ and spend money on free agents not on rookies that wont ever develope.
  • Tony Feb 15, 2009 @ 4:09 pm | delete
My thoughts are why would the Ravens pass over the following receivers for Derrick Williams: Hakeem Nicks, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Juaquin Iglesias, or Brian Robiskie. Maybe Brandon Gibson also at this point in the draft.
  • sap77sr Feb 15, 2009 @ 3:50 pm | delete
Be prepared for Mark Parson CB Ohio U to move up to first round after Combine and His Pro day. Deion Sanders is getting ready to tell the world he's the best corner in the class and wasn't even invited to combine. Parson will also run a 4.38 at his pro day.

Speaking of Michael Johnson, I believe he will have a great Combine & will fly up draft boards. But he scares me; I have a feeling he might be an NFL bust--looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane-type.
