Art Exhibition 2010

Elen Sentier & Jennifer Russell-Smith are having a rolling exhibiton around the Welsh Marches in 2010. Keep watching this page for more details.

The exhibiiton is about the magical, fugitive shapeshifters who inhabit this ancient land. Elen's pictures are eerily beautiful, strange and evocative. Jennifer's Spirit Dolls take you back into the ancient folk-art traditions of this land.

There will be an interactive Wishing Tree as part of the exhibition, where you can tie your rag-wish for the goddess.

Art Bio

I was born in 1948 - Leo sun, Virgo moon and Sagittarius rising. My mother's mother was a witch from the Isle of Mann, and my father was a somewhat reluctant shaman and engineer. One of my uncles could call a wild hawk to his wrist and I've many times sat all night by his side under a tree watching foxes and dormice, weasels and rabbits, badgers and hunting owls, and all the other night denizens of the wild woods. So I grew up in an environment full of everyday magic and always lived with otherworld ... it's the Faer who appear in my pictures.

I always excelled at art in school and went on to study art, dance and drama at Exeter University where I got invaluable training. Later, in London, I got deeply into photography and joined the Camera Club of London while it was still by Leicester Square. I had exhibitions there and Ansel Adams became my absolute guru (along with Bill Brandt). I taught his methods at the club. I began in W&W but have now evolved into digital art.

As well as being an artist I also write. Google me to see the books I've written. I live and work in the Welsh Marches - the borders of Wales and England - it's a very magical place and full of Celtic and Arthurian legend - and I share my life with my husband, Paul, two cats, a host of wildlife and the Seelie Courts ...

Warm wishes from between the two lights,
Elen
