Books I Enjoyed in 2011
2011 started out to be a great year for reading. I received a Kindle for Christmas and that opened a whole new realm of reading for me. I still read books in the paper format but having a Kindle makes it easy for me to always have a book available, and I find myself reading more then ever before.
It is now the 1st of August so this lens will highlight the top ten books that I enjoyed during the first months of 2011.

Contents at a Glance
One Summer
David Balducci
David Balducci is one of my favorite authors. He usually writes spy-type mysteries but this book is very different from these books. This book is great book for light summer reading. It combines romance and family relationships into a book that I could not put down.
I am a real lighthouse enthusiast, so the inclusion of a lighthouse in the novel made it even better reading for me.

Invisible-Ivy Malone Mystery
Lorena McCourtney
I downloaded this book to my Kindle after it was recommended by lensmaster Joan4. It is a delightful mystery and now I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
10th Anniversary
James Patterson
This is the latest book in a series called the Womens Murder Mystery Club. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and always look forward to reading the latest book.
Heat Wave
Richard Castle
If you enjoy watching Castle on TV you will enjoy this series of books based on the TV show. A light cop mystery, I found this a good summer read.
Book Club Ideas

Have you thought you'd like to belong to a book club? Here is what we do in the book club I belong to along with some links to the books we've read.
Looking Glass
Richard Paul Evans
Richard Paul Evans writes inspirational novels with a message. I always enjoy reading his books.
Favorite Books
what type of books do you enjoy?
I enjoy reading all types of books, but if I had to pick what I'd like to read the most it would have to be mysteries. I like the challenge of trying to figure out the ending. I'm always up for a good mystery.

Amazon Kindle
read everywhere
I absolutely love my Kindle. It is small and I can carry it with me everywhere. I keep lots of books on it just waiting for me to read. I also keep a notepad function on the Kindle to use to take notes at places like book club or the doctors office.
I have always loved to read and at first I resisted the thought of an electronic reader....but I am quick to admit I was wrong...I love everything about my Kindle. I still read traditional books at times but I love the flexibility that the Kindle offers to read books anywhere and at anytime. It is especially good when sitting outside in the bright sunlight...very easy to read. I also like the feature of being able to adjust the print size.

Elizabeth Street
historical fiction
This work of historical fiction is based on the true stories of the authors grandparents and great grandparents. You follow them as they come to New York city from Italy and face the challenges of immigrants in a new country. A very compelling read and a great book for a book club discussion.
eye of the god
Ariel Allison
This was a great thriller about a group of jewel thieves who try to steal the Hope diamond from the Smithsonian and the life of the woman who stands in their way. A real page turner.
Danielle Steel
light romance book
When I am looking for a light fast read I turn to Danielle Steel. Her latest novel involves turning point birthdays of three of the main characters. Turning 60, 50, and 30 brings some new adventures for each of these delightful characters. I enjoyed reading this light romance.

These High Green Hills
Jan Karon
This book is #3 in Jan Karon's Mitford series. It is a delightful tale of a minister in small town America.
Mary Higgins Clark
I'll Walk Alone
Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorite authors. I look for her books as soon as they come out. She has written more than 25 thrilling suspense novels plus several delightful Christmas tales that she has co-authored with her daughter Carol Higgins Clark.
This book was another thriller where the main character finds out that someone is impersonating her and stealing her idenity.

- I always love Nicholas Sparks novels... Even though most of it ends with a tragedy. It can still give anybody a shred of inspiration to go on with their lives... even though you are so broke..
