2012 NFL Mock Draft

Ranked #12,163 in Sports & Recreation, #292,042 overall

The 2012 NFL Draft

Everyone saw the 2011 draft, which was the draft of the Quarterback. Six passers went in the top 50 picks, making it one of the heaviest quarterback drafts since the 1999 draft which produced Daunte Culpepper, Donovan McNabb, etc. In 2011 we saw Cam Newton, Jake Locker, Christian Ponder, Andy Dalton, Colin Kaepernick, and Blaine Gabbert all get drafted in the first two rounds.

2012 looks to be a year where teams look to fill out the offensive skill positions. There will be as many as five first found receivers including Chris Owusu, Michael Floyd, Alshon Jeffrey, Jeff Fuller, and Devier Posey drafted to give the 2011 QBs some help on the outside. Also the University of North Carolina will be represented well again defensively with prospects Quentin Coples, Donte Paige-Moss, and Zach Brown all eventual high round picks.

So who will get drafted to your favorite team? Continue reading to see my 2012 NFL Mock Draft!

Traded Draft Picks

The Falcons traded their entire draft to get Julio Jones in 2011In 2011 the New Orleans Saints traded their first round pick in 2012 to the New England Patriots so they could select running back Mark Ingram.

In 2011 the Atlanta Falcons traded their first round pick in 2012 to the Cleveland Browns so they could select wide receiver Julio Jones.

If any other trades happen during the season I will update them here, for now lets get on with the 2012 NFL Mock Draft!

Who Will Pick First in the 2012 Draft?

A lot of people are thinking more and more on the upcoming draft and of course when projecting a new draft the number one thing to do is decide who will draft first. Now this is a hot topic but the way I see it, the teams that need a QB the MOST will be more adept to picking first than the rest of the NFL. So who is that? The usual suspects. These teams either ignored drafting a QB last year, stuck with underwhelming incumbents, or are possibly tanking for Andrew Luck. So who?

1. Buffalo Bills - the Bills didnt get Tim Tebow in the 2010 draft, and stuck with Fitzpatrick. He is a stat padder, very tough, but just isnt going to get you to the promise land.

2. Denver Broncos - When you have 2 QBs you have zero. After Josh McDaniels left, the Broncos were left with a roster that included Kyle Orton, an average QB, and Tim Tebow a complete enigma.

3. Washington Redskins - John Beck and Rex Grossman? Is Mike Shanahan smoking? No one believes the Skins are trying to win in 2011. They are tanking for Andrew Luck.

4. Seattle Seahawks - traded for Tavaris Jackson and grabbed Sidney Rice. Thats a nice start, but is Tavaris a franchise guy? Hmmmmm

5. Oakland Raiders - They were rumored to grab Vince Young but it never happened, so the Raiders will replace Jason Campbell with a draft pick. But who? Better not be another JAMARCUS!

6. Miami Dolphins - Chad Henne, Chad Pennington, and a crop of who-knows-who are grabbing QB helmets for the fins. This is a proud franchise that needs... NEEDS to find a QB to bring them back to the promiseland.

Mock Draft: First 5 Picks

1. Buffalo Bills - Matt Kalil, LT USC.

The Bills are not going to draft a QB, ever. I don't know why, but they simply refuse to invest at that position. Possibly setting the team up to be sold? They get the top LT here.

2. Denver Broncos - Andrew Luck, QB Stanford.

John Elway is from Stanford. The Broncos need a QB. The Broncos are in the position to draft a QB from Stanford. Problem solved.

3. Washington Redskins - Landry Jones, QB OU.

The Skins have a terrible QB situation as well but right now they need to find a guy to build around. Rex Grossman is a nice story but the Skins want to reach the playoffs. So use the nfl draft a better QB here.

4. Seattle Seahawks - Matt Barkley QB USC

Pete Carroll brought Matt Barkley to USC. Pete Carroll took a job with the Seahawks shortly after that. The Seahawks need a QB. Barkley is on the board. Problem solved? Yes sir!

5. Oakland Raiders - Quentin Coples DE UNC

The Raiders may be content with Jason Campbell for 2012 and beyond. In that case they will draft the most physically talented DE on the board. Hello Mr. Coples. Sorry you have to play in Oakland.

ESPN Power Ranking Mock Draft

Here are the last 5 teams in ESPN's Power Rankings. And a quick mockness for it.

Cincinnati Bengals
Andrew Luck QB Stanford - the Panthers have proven that taking a QB early does not mean you shouldn't select another if you end up #1 overall.

Buffalo Bills
Mat Kalil OT USC - Once again, we all know the Bills won't be selecting a QB here. Though they should.

Carolina Panthers
DE Quenton Coples DE UNC - Charles Johnson on the right side, Quenton Coples on the left side. Everette Brown off the bench. Sounds like a decent rotation to me!

Washington Redskins
QB Landry Jones OU - the Sooners QB will find his way into the top 10 with a near Heisman season and probably National Title. Shanahan loves his young QBs.

Cleveland Browns
WR Alshon Jeffery South Carolina - Though Blackmon could end up getting the nod here, the Browns need to get Colt a lot of young weapons.

I am a Dallas fan and I kinda hope we can get a quarterback with a lot less of an attitude as Romo. But we are kind of fortunate, the Eagles need a lot mor than that
