Will the World End - 2012

Ranked #3,854 in Culture & Society, #82,145 overall

Is the world going to end in 2012?

What is the truth about the end of days in 2012? Is it a myth to cash in on the fallible believers of God? Has Nostradamus prediction got anything to do with 2012? Is the world really coming to an end in 2012? Is the Mayan calendar correct? Have the Mayan's got their clocks wrong? The questions can go on and on. This is certainly not the first time we are hearing about the end of the world. Please read through to summon upon your intellectuality to question some of the questions and to question some of the answers. The world has been coming to an 'end' for far too many times within acceptable memory.

Christians talk of Jesus Christ's second coming every other day and would continue doing so. The doomsday predictors seem to have their own 'date with the destiny' many times. Their latest gaffe was the prediction about Christ's coming on March 21, 2011. Is there going to be an end to this 'end'? Take some time out to watch Charlton Heston's narrative video about the mysterious origins of man - It is quite an eye-opener about man's true origins. The power to think lies in your mind. So, get into some introspective thinking. May you live long for a hundred years and God bless.

Is Jesus Coming Soon?

There is a lot of talk and speculation lately that the world is coming to an in the year 2012. Are you one of the people who believe in this 'fact' or are worried about the consequences of this 'ending'? The answer in my opinion is a simple no-brainer - 'No'. It is certainly not the first time that the world is being put through this speculative ending. Two thousand years back, the chroniclers of the Bible started the neo-thesis then about the second coming of Jesus (The Bible was written two thousand years back - The New Testament part at least). Two thousand years hence, the evangelists continue to pepper-spray people with the same second coming, everyday.

Back in the late '70s and even during the early part of the year 1980, when I was a teenager, there was a similar 'ending' which was to befall all earth in the year 1980. The evangelists then were fervently preaching about the coming of Jesus and the impending end of the world. Perhaps by luck or fate, Jesus failed to turn up on that year, even as many feared the worst of disasters to befall the earth. Sadly, the same tape was played out during 1992 to en cash on the public despondency. Doomsday predictors again cashed in on the euphoria during the turn of the millennia in the late '90s. Fortunately for many, the memory of the masses is short lived, as people rightly tend to move on even from disastrous situations in life. They say, 'time is the best healer' and when things turn rosy again in the minds of the beholders, all becomes well and the past is passed off from the RAM in to the Hard Disk, only to be recalled when absolutely necessary. That in many ways is a good trait, because we invariably look for the optimistic side within ourselves and try to move on from setbacks and painful situations.

Atheists are lucky in many ways because it is immaterial to them if there is a god to come or not, because they choose to be blissfully unaware of god and themselves. It would really not matter to them about 'where they jumped into the world from' or 'what happens to them' after death. The same holds good for an agnostic person because they choose to be blissfully unaware. The real question about the threat of an ending of the world today or tomorrow gets seeded, only in the minds of the 'believers' of God. Paradoxical as it may sound, it is the believer in God that need not worry about endings of the world. Simply because the ever-loving God-head is going to take care of the people he loves, 'come what may'.

Science provides us ample proof that the world got formed eons back. They provide credible evidence of the Cambrian explosion of marine species and the subsequent species happened circa 520 million years ago. The older religions of the world like Sanatana Dharma talk so in a similar manner of the continuum of time. Christianity talks about God's painstaking creation of the heavens and the earth over six days of 'his' time, and found them 'very good'. History and Archeology talk about very advanced civilizations of yore. The Mayan and the Incan civilizations existed 17,000 years back. Unfortunately they were annihilated do to some unexplained cataclysmal tectonic shifting of the earth's outer crust. Our current highest recorded earthquake intensity ever felt stands around 9.0 on the Richter's scale. Perhaps, one can imagine the effects of 'what would happen if it were to be say 12 or 'God forbid' 15, on a similar scale?'

Surely, it cannot be imagined. Not even in my wildest of imaginations. Would the world come to and end in such an event? I would dare say, 'no'. The world ends for you and me, the day we die, period. The soul and the spirit within can never die. It has to continue on its quest. Each soul is blessed with all that is needed to nourish it from the past. Each soul is provided with all that is needed to sustain its live on the earth. Each soul will invariably carry the learning's of many lifetimes, in its everlasting quest for perfection to become one with 'GOD'.

Does the world end in 2012?

Do you believe that the end of the world is near?

Most certainly, YES

nadjaiskeniskie says:

The end is near, or not - compared to what?.

Annleecakes says:

The Earth is Gone?

hamshi5433 says:

All I know for sure is Jesus is coming VERY SOON!

TheWhistler says:

Who would have thought New York would have a earthquake and hurricane in the same week.

goo2eyes says:

it looks like it. we see the signs of the times. this is my lens title which i could not finish.

Chynsea says:

Yes, I believe we are in the last moments. As you stated; we have been in the last days since JESUS died, and rose again on the 3rd day.

mismatch says:

I hope so.

says:

Of Course it would - just kidding :)

NOPE

aquarian_insight says:

I do not believe the end of the world is near. Do I believe us humans have to start changing the way we live and behave? Most definitely.

SilmarwenLinwelin says:

Nobody can tell whether it's near or not or even if the end will ever come

whoisbid says:

No because my world ended some time back

COUNTRYLUTHIER says:

No, some signs portend, but it is not yet time. Any ending of the world as we know it in 2012 is a coincidence. There is more preacing to the rest of the world as we know it.

AnthonyAltorenna says:

Humanity has the chance to save itself.

But you never know... there might be a meteor out there that is coming our way, or some fringe group might get their hands on atomics.

says:

No, we humans may become extinct but the world won't end.

BrassFittings says:

never know...but there will be a tipping of the global cart soon.

Anime-e says:

I guess im pretty late lol

CliveAnderson says:

Thankfully I'm about 100% certain that the world will Not come to an end in 2012. There may be a few nerve wrenching events, but nothing like the end!

oktalBlizzard says:

Even though the world is not in a good state, it will not end any time soon. I can guarantee it. I am certain.

pixiepot says:

I hope not. It's said that a comet will hit earth in 2012 and in 2013 a solar flare will hit earth, however, this is not yet proven.
So, as long as we have optimism, we will do good!!!

GrandMemories says:

Long before the Book of Daniel, centuries before Revelation, man predicted the end. It has not come. It will some day, but not in 2012. It is always funny to see people read fantasy into mythology and call it fact.

Chadrew says:

I have some canned food in the fridge that expires in 2013. So obviously the world can't end in 2012!

Morticella says:

No I dont.

TeamSTM says:

It will be Just a New Change or Way of Thinking!!

cdcraftee says:

Basically, I'm ticked off, if it is. My husband and I will miss out on our 47th wedding anniversary! Promises, promises.....only joking!
Predicted twice for 2011, I believe. So far, one out of two was wrong 'Downunder' - same for you?
Christine (becoming decidedly 'cheesed off')
PS: security word - loveworm - huh??

Tipi says:

No one knows the day or the hour..

prashu8915 says:

Hopefully it is not. I do not think world is going to end so suddenly. There might arise some conditions which will make life difficult for living beings.

ChrisDay says:

Who knows - I suppose the whole thing could go bang any time but, just like in playing Rugby, I say: play on until the whistle blows! Anyway, I don't see people spending their savings in a frenzy, so as to enjoy them before the end comes. I expect they doubt the imminence and daren't be left with nothing if it doesn't all go plop.

CruiseReady says:

No. Nobody knows ...

deyani says:

No... There's still so many things that God wants to do in this world, I don't believe He will end it next year.

thesuccess says:

There is an End of World date due May 21st 2011 if you Google for it.

darciefrench says:

The universe recycles itself over and over. It's only when we transcend the pairs of opposites that make up karma that we can move on from this world; it will always come and go with the thought of it.

nancycarol says:

The Bible says that "not even the angels in heaven will know" when the world comes to an end....and it also says it will happen "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye." So, no matter what anyone on earth says, this event cannot be predicted. If you believe the Bible, it will happen in its own time. If you don't, perhaps you believe it will never happen. I don't believe it is near.

ltraider says:

Man can't even predict the weather properly let alone the end of the world.

The world ends all the time in its old form. It starts again every time it ends. It might go through a radical transformation one day and then we all will cry that it has ended but the world will world further, nevertheless. Keep being, I.

And now I am going to read your lens. I wonder what you'll be saying about the end of the world.

I believe the world as we know it is ending, that the energies now are evolving us into a higher species than we have been before. What is ending are the veils of illusion that have kept us from realizing our true nature.
