What will you do to ensure your family's survival?

Join us here for a brief and enlightening overview of the possible coming calamities and strategies that you can implement to ensure the survival of your family. These simple suggestions may mean the difference between life and death for you and your loved ones

Simple solutions

Bleak outlook for the world's citizens! Let's face it, news of impending doom looms around every corner and on each page of the morning news papers. What can you do to sort through the diatribe and hype to get to the meat of the matter? Some reports warn of a globe wide "biblical" destruction at the hands of celestial bodies nearing the Earth, while others warn of devastating economic collapses around the globe. Some even still talk of the Soviet or Asian threat of nuclear strikes, or simply the planet going through its continual shifting and changing.
What to believe? The scenarios of what may or may not happen to be are simply too numerous to list so I wont attempt to do that here, or anywhere else. My hope is to enlighten you, my reader, to the fact that the possibility of some sort of major calamity reaching our shores soon far outweigh the chance that nothing at all will transpire.
A little time invested into reviewing world history and ancient civilizations will reveal to even the most unlearned history student that about every 3,700 years our planet undergoes major and catastrophic changes. The writing is on the wall; so to speak, and it's my opinion that only a fool ignores the writing on the wall.
Whether economic or natural disaster you must have plans and have them implemented to ensure your families being able to make it through the hard times to come! Short of an all-out nuclear holocaust, of which there will be no survivors, there are some pretty easy and inexpensive strategies you can put in place in a short amount of time to increase your survivability rating.
Of course, there will have to be food. Canned goods, freeze dried, dehydrated. These are all sound and viable solutions. You will need to store your food stuffs in clean, vermin resistant containers and keep them in an easily accessible and guarded area, and remember, you will have to have a way to prepare these foods. Water, yes there will have to be water. Water is easily stored in almost any type of container. Remember, the darker colored the storage containers for your water the less light that can enter, giving you an even greater sustainability of your supply. Water purification is simple and cheep with products ranging from pour through filters and tablets to purification packs to treat hundreds of gallons of water at a time. Without it, your failure is guaranteed!
Naturally, you will have first aid items in your cache, but you should also have some of the not so common medical aid items in your kit. Sutures and heavy bandaging, splints, a scalpel, a bone saw, antiseptics, antibacterials, alcohol, and iodine, perhaps even a store of black powder to cauterize wounds are some things you may want to have on hand.
Trade and barter items may be very important to your survival. Everyday things that a lot of us use to just get by; Tobacco, alcohol, simple first-aid kits, vitamins, topical solutions, clothing (especially socks and underwear), toilet paper. All of these will make hot ticket trade items.
It is highly recommended that you have a back pack (bug out bag) for each member of your family. Each pack should contain three days of rations and water along with at least a small weapon for self defense, something with which to start a fire. Some type of hand held saw, first aid supplies and a temporary shelter among other things. The hope is that if a catastrophic event takes place you will not have to leave your home and its safety. If that safety becomes compromised though, you should be prepared to flee.
I encourage every reader to purchase weapons to protect your life and the lives of those you love. Your survival supplies will have to be protected, perhaps by deadly force. Not a nice thing to have to think about but think about it, we must. In the event of economic meltdown, whether by bad governing or as an aftermath to geological upheavals, food shortages are just around the corner. In many cases, food rioting will begin within twenty four hours. It is predicted that in the event of such a melt down US food supplies will be gone from the shelves in less than four days, and widespread rioting will have begun by the fifth day. Will you risk your family's future, their very survival?
The time to act is now. Stocking items for your survivability efforts does not have to be stressful. Nor do you need to feel pressured, though the pressure really is on, to hurry and get everything done at once. Just do what you can as you can. An extra bag or two of rice this week, some extra pintos and bottled water the next. You get the idea.
The recommendation is to have three months of supplies laid by in case of emergency. I recommend that you plan to have at least a one-year supply of all necessities for every single member of your household. You have to be the one to take action, to implement planning and carry it through! Get the family involved, help them to understand why making preparations are so important. Don't let yourself be caught up in the "It can't happen here!" masses. Because it can and eventually will happen here. Just take a look around yourself, no one has to convince you.
