Overcome Fear - How to Let Go of Subconscious Fears

Subconscious fears-we all have them. Do you ever take time to think about your fears? Many people don't realize subconscious fears are very real or how they affect our behaviors and our lives. In fact, for most people, these fears are so ingrained in our beliefs that they take the form of rational, logical thoughts and feelings and are not even aware they exist.

Instead of using the word fear when describing feelings, we use other words such as concern, doubt, anxiety or hesitation. But ultimately it's all the same - fear. Somewhere within us, there is something such as a thought, belief or feeling that makes us feel threatened or uneasy, so we instinctively avoid situations that create this.

What are some of the fears that may be hiding in our minds?

Fear of Failure

Fear of failure takes many forms. Our minds create excuse after excuse about why we should not take action, now isn't a good time; just wait until s happens, and so forth. If you've ever held avoided taking action or hesitated in following through on something that would lead to a positive outcome, it was probably fear of failure holding you back.

Fear of Success

Equally as strong but perhaps a bit harder to comprehend is the fear of success. Although it might be difficult to believe, fear of success far more rather common. With success comes responsibilities and uncertainties, and this is a concern for some. If you worry that you won't be able to handle newfound responsibilities and challenges, you will avoid creating situations where you might have to face them.

Fear of Rejection

Fear of rejection can show up in subtle ways. You may sabotage someone or something when you think rejection is on the horizon to avoid being rejected yourself, lash out when a possible rejection is imminent; or you may avoid any and all social interaction to avoid the possibility of being rejected.

Fear of Not Being Good Enough

When we identify our fears, you can begin to dismantle them by using mind and body techniques that calm the emotions, make your body feel relaxed and allow your thoughts to once again flow in a positive direction.

Since our minds are conditioned to respond to fear and we are bombarded with fear messages daily, for most this dismantling process is ongoing. The good news is once we realize our fears; it is easy to get into the habit of addressing our fear and taking its power. In its place, we create healthily new patterns which limit the conditioned responses we have grown to accept as "normal" and in time can even eliminate the fears which stop us for creating the best for ourselves.
