25 Things About Me
Hi! I'm Holley and I am privileged to part of a group called Rocket Moms! I thought this would be an interesting way to connect to other members. This a list of assorted things about me that you may find interesting or amusing.
25 Things You May Not Know About Me

1) At first I am very shy with new people. Once I figure out who everyone is, I'm not so much the wallflower anymore.
2) I was born on June 21, making me a Gemini/Cancer. This tends to confuse a lot of people. Not only do I have the twins flopping around in my head (making me seem "air headed"), but I have that crab causing me to be cautious and serious. Moody? You betcha! My husband used to walk in the house and poke his head around the door just to see if I was smiling or not. I never really understood the issue. He couldn't read my mind?
3) My parents will have been married for 46 years on August 20, 2009. I am the only person I know that still has (Thank God!) both parents married and here with me.
4) I had a younger brother that we lost in 1999 when he was only 29. Even now, speaking his name brings tears. His daughter is now growing up never having even met her dad.
5) My maternal grandmother was a huge influence on me. She was still going to school at 65 and getting another Master's Degree. She was a librarian, home economics, and English teacher. I was her first-born grandchild and only girl for 20 years. Our bond was strong.

6) I was born on Father's Day. Being the first born and only girl to my parents, I may have been "Daddy's little princess" a little longer than most. Actually, I still am.
7) I am a writer. I write short stories and novels. Have you ever read anything I have written? Well, you may have and not even know it :)
8) Ancient history has always been a huge interest of mine. The Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians hold a real fascination. I wanted to be an archaeologist, the one who found the stargate, temple, or Rosetta Stone that created more questions than answers. Then on to another adventure. I loved Indiana Jones.
9) I've collected coins from around the world since I was young. My father always collected old coins and it rubbed off. Christmas of 2007, I bought him a few ancient Roman coins and he is, without any doubt, completely addicted.
10) I love music. I grew up in the era of "bubblegum" with Shaun Cassidy, The Osmonds, The Bay City Rollers and Leif Garrett. Though I loved all that music, I have much older stuff in my collection, like a first edition of Louis Armstrong's "Hello Dolly" and a lot of Elvis. Growing up in "Dixie" or the "Land of Cotton", I know there is only one King of Rock and Roll.

11) Coffee is my weakness. For some it is chocolate or salty snacks, but if you offer me a great cup of coffee, we are friends for life. I love to taste coffees from around the world, though currently the favorite is good ol' Folgers. I like coffee strong. It doesn't matter whether it's black or with cream and sugar. I love it!
12) I came up with a 5 minute Key Lime Pie recipe because I can't resist it and when the temptation hits, I will drive for miles to get it.
13) Growing my own vegetable garden and having it thrive is so rewarding to me. I love to grow beautiful big tomatoes, okra, crookneck and zucchini squash.
14) The Star Spangled Banner makes me cry.
15) As a teenager, I volunteered to work with the county Parks and Recreation Dept and with the Special Olympics.

16) The Atlanta Falcons (football) are my favorite sports team. I am a huge fan. Please don't call me on Sundays during the game or during Monday night football.
17) I love the Atlanta Braves baseball team and try hard to watch most of the games, but with 162 games a year plus any playoff games, it's pretty tough.
18) I was never really a girlie-girl. I couldn't stand those cutesy types that couldn't even put gas in their own car. My mother has always been an independent thinker and had to work twice as hard as the men in her office even though she was smarter. She taught me to never put myself in a position where I had to rely on anyone for my basic needs in life.
19) I appreciate older people. I respect their age and wisdom. I wish I had had more time with grandmother before she left this world.
20) I have very few close friends. One has been my best friend (other than my parents) for 27 years. Our children have grown up together and they are best friends. It's like one big family when we all get together.

21) I am a Christian by faith, but feel that religion and science should be able to peacefully co-exist.
22) I have never flown in a plane. Even when my flights were free at Delta, I just never really had any reason to fly.
23) I was classified as a genius in kindergarten. I have to wonder what happened...
24) I read and watch everything I get my hands on about King Arthur, Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table.
25) I want to visit all the Ancient Wonders of the World. I love to think Atlantis existed and that UFO's have their own landing strips in different areas of the world.
Questions I'd like to have answered
Just musings

When a spacecraft is sent in search of other life, why does it go "out" toward Pluto instead of straight up or down? Is our universe flat?
Why is it that...
Whenever I tell someone I've never smoked pot or taken any illegal drugs, they always act as though I am lying or call me "Goody Two Shoes"?
Whenever I say "I don't drink", there is always someone who wants to try to force the issue?
Just because I grew up in the deep south, people think I must to be ignorant?

- It was great getting to know you better Holley! It seems we share a love of ancient cultures and a desire to visit the ancient wonders of the world, maybe we will run into each other at one of them someday. :)
